I’ll Tumble for You!

I have a love for all things craft related and that means more than just hand-crafted greeting cards. Especially vinyl, heat vinyl, t-shirts, and I’ve dabbled with painting wood, but I’ll show you that later.  I’m still trying to perfect my painting skills (LOL).  These two tumblers were made as a gift for two family members, sisters.  One of them is a diesel mechanic and when her dad tells his friends his daughter is a diesel mechanic he beams a great proud smile and says, “She’s my little grease monkey!”

The other daughter loves all things Japanese, so much so that she minored in Japanese in college!  Her senior year in college she ventured on a two-week vacation to Japan with a friend.  When she returned home she told stories of how the wonderful people of Japan repeatedly asked one question, “Where did you learn Japanese? You speak it so well!”

If you want to make something with these two designs here you go!  Select desired file: Grease Monkey Evolution (PNG, SVG), Japanese Girl Drinking Tea (PNG, SVG).

Enjoy!

Winter Holiday: How’s it Hung?

Todays card was designed specifically for this weeks Stamp Ink Paper card challenge.  The design itself was easy, yet simple and what I love most about it is that the ornament can be gently removed and hung on a real tree.  It’s a gift and a card in one. Boom! Microphone drop!

The Details:

  • Tree Branch.  The tree stamp is from a retired set no longer available through Stampin’ Up!, but you can use any tree stamp you may have in your stash.
  • How is Ornament Hung?  When I showed my husband the card the first question he asked was, “How’s it hung?”  Well, I took a 6″ of the Gold Metallic Thread and looped it through the ornament.  Before tying it together, I poked two holes in the card with the Paper-Piercing Tool and ran the end of the thread in both holes. I used my favorite tweezers to assist in tying the thread and boom!  The thread is so thin it can barely be seen.  It’s why he asked how it hung on the card.
  • Perfect Stamped Alignment.  A few years ago I purchased a Misti tool to help me align my images.  But a few months ago my friend Justin told me that Misti now has a mini tool! OMG! I had to get it and I use it 9/10 times I stamp. It also helps the image stamp with more clarity and sharpness.  I never thought it was possible, but now I know the secrets of others. LOL.  You can gone one for yourself at the Stamp Ink Paper Store here.  After you use it, you’ll understand what I mean by a more clear crisp stamped image.  It has to do with the pressure applied when stamping.

Join us and post your Winder Holiday creation on the Stamp Ink Paper blog.

Stamp Ink Paper: His Name

Christmas

A card may not be perfect, but every perfect card is one that is made with your heart. Today’s card is for the Stamp Ink Paper Sketch Challenge.  When the Peaceful Pines stamps set was introduced  in the 2015-16 Annual Catalog I purchased it and never used it.  Something many of you may not know is that the trees are slightly different sizes….I like that!

Stamp Ink Paper #77

You too can play along with Stamp Ink Paper here.

The Details:

  • 3-D Stamping.  When I snip my stamped images to add Stampin’ Dimensionals for the 3-D look, I always stamp the image under the image.  I stamp it so that just in case the receiver looks under the pop up image they’ll also see a stamped image.  There’s no reason for it, but that I like it.  Do you do the same thing?

What’s More Enjoyable: Little or Big Things?

Enjoy the Little Things

I have often watched other card makers design their own background and it’s always been intimidating for me.  But today, I bit the bullet and went for it!  We are our own worst critiques and although I didn’t think it was perfect enough here it is!

The Details:

  • Which colors first?  Although there’s no right or wrong way, I first stamped the lighter colors.
  • Light in the middle.  Leave a little less color in the middle so that the main sentiment shows up a little more bold.  However, I embossed the sentiment so that it was more bold and stood out from the rest of the card.

Stamp Ink Paper: Embossing Challenge

Christmas

Have you started your Christmas cards yet?  I’m a little behind this year, but they’e slowly getting done.  Today’s card is for the Stamp Ink Paper card challenge .

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge

Enter your card into the Embossing challenge at Stamp Ink Paper here.

Christmas

The Details:

  • Wet Ink on Emobssing!?  Yes, that will happen and you’ll get ink all over the card!  It happened twice and to make sure it didn’t happen a third time I used the heat tool to dry it. It worked and I didn’t have to make a third card (LOL).
  • Embellishments.  If your a current demo and have a blog, never be ashamed or afraid to use retired (no longer available) embellishments.  Where do you think the snowflakes came from?  Not a demo?  Just proof that if you fall in love with a Stampin’ Up! product don’t wait until it’s no longer available, but stock up.
  • How to Prevent Embossing Powder Fly-aways.  Rule of thumb is to gently rub the Embossing Buddy over the cardstock before it is stamped with Versamark Ink.  Why?  Because it prevents loose embossing power to fly away and melt onto the card where it doesn’t belong.  It’s something I often forget to do when embossing and I figured I should remind you (LOL).

A Special Note

Thank You

Often a nicely laid out card with some very basic matting is all you need for a classic look.  It’s guaranteed to be enjoyed by the person you sent to.

The Details:

  • Everything in the Middle.  Like all things in life, a balance on a card is easy on the eyes.  The focus is in the middle and your eyes don’t need to wonder all over the place.  When making a card like this, embellishments are not needed.
  • Easy Color Match.  Need I say more?  With Stampin’ Up! colors (from paper to ink to embellishments) the work is done for you. Which is great for me because I’m color blind.  Not literally, but figuratively!  I can’t even dress myself b ecause I don’t know how to match colors (LOL).  I think wearing a uniform for 25 years of my life is to blame. LOL

Anything But a Card!

2016badge-watermelon

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for November 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month our projects feature items that are considered 3D, Home Décor or Gift Sets. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

Frame

My project consists of a special frame for a family member who went through a rough patch recently.  I put it in a frame and not a card because the sentiment is something I want her to see everyday.  Where did I get the frame?  It’s from an old Paper Pumpkin monthly kit that was used for Mother’s Day.  I love it because I have recycled it many times.  314-1

Thanks for visiting. To continue with the hop, please refer to the Blog Hop Line-up below. We hope to see you on next month’s Pals Blog Hop!

In Holy Stampimony

Thank You

Didn’t use up all your Halloween Night designer series paper?  No problem!  You can do one of two things: 1) Save it for next year or 2) use the other side!  I chose #2!

sip73

This week we enter the season of being grateful/thankful and with my favorite season and the Stamp Ink Paper card challenges kicks the holiday season off with a grateful card challenge.  Please show how grateful you are over at the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge.

Thank You

The Details:

  • Marrying Stamp Sets.  Joining two different sets in holy stampimony makes for a happy card.  The anchor in Guy Greetings makes a perfect match with Banner Blessings and they make the cutest couple don’t ya think?
  • Outdated Designer Series Paper.  No problem! Flip it over and get a completely different look.  It’s what I did with the left over Halloween Night DSP.  Often we are so mesmerized with the cute designs that we forget to flip it and admire the reverse side.  However, you can also do what so many of us do….save it for next year! LOL

Walking in the Rain

Friendship

Here it is my friends!  The plug to the hole in my heart is the Retro Rubber (Card) Challenge. I’m not on the design team, but will start using my vast Stampin’ Up! collection of years gone past.  Cards made with my ‘antique’ collection usually don’t make the blog because they aren’t available for purchase from Stampin’ Up! and I’m not selling them. But now I’ll be able to show them off on the blog and I’m so excited and I only hate that you can’t see the goofy smile on my face.

retro-challenge-50

everything-nice-2005-suStamp set used for the Retro Rubber Challenge (RRCB50) is the retired set And Everything Nice – 2005.  It is absolutely nothing but cuteness.  If you have an older stamp set you’d like to show off I’d also love to see your card on the challenge.

Friendship The Details:

  • Water-color Madness.  For over a month now I have been water-coloring like a mad woman and the best tool I’ve found that works great for me are the Aqua Painters.  They come in two brush sizes and I tend to use the smaller one.  I love that the brush allows me to be able to start off with a darker shade of the color and I brush in short strokes to push the color down where I want it to blend.  You just have to practice practice practice.
  • Please Leave a Comment.  Your comments give me the encouragement to continue the blog and share my love of handmade cards.  I’d love for you to forward this post to a friend and say, “If I had made this card, I would’ve sent it to you.” LOL…then I want you to come back and let me know what they said.
  • Share Some Sunshine.  Did you think of a specific friend when you first saw the retro image and read the cute sentiment?  Please share it.  Scroll down to the bottom of the post and click on the envelope image to share the card with someone whom you think can use a little bit of sunshine today.

Stamp Ink Paper: Guitar Song #72

Thank You

This weeks starts off with no more Pals Paper Arts, but I have found a plug for the hole in my heart and you’ll see it real soon.  This week,  Stamp Ink Paper Challenge sings me a Stampin’ Up love song with the guitar from the Country Livin’ Stamp Set.

Stamp Ink Paper #72

You don’t need to know how to play a guitar to stamp it on a handmade card to send someone music for their soul.  Post your card here.

Thank You

The Details:

  • Wood Guitar.  To create a realistic wooden guitar, I stamped on the wood paper from the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack and then hand-snipped it.  Looks super realistic and I love it don’t you!?

New Product Release Coming in 2017 Catalog

These are the matching stamp sets you can buy at 25% off to boot!

Congratulations: Watercolored Rose

Congratulations

My mom called me the other day and asked if I would please make a card for her to give to my brother and his new bride.  I got right on it and did some water-coloring….did you see my post from a couple days ago? It’s water-coloring of the Cookie Cutter Halloween Stamp Set and lately it’s my go-to method for coloring in my stamped images.  I absolutely love it!

Congratulations

The Details:

  • No Need To Be Perfect.  That’s right!  Why worry about being perfect?  I used to worry about it and it never got me anywhere!  I was too intimidated to try because I thought it had to be perfect.  However, once I no longer feared perfectionism…I just can’t stop water-coloring. You should really give it a try if you are like I once was.
  • Easy Frame. Let me tell you how easy peasy this is to do.  After stamping and coloring in your image, use the  Layering Squares Framelits to cut out the center of the image.  Adhere the inside image flat on the card base and use Foam Adhesive Strips to give the outer layer and make the frame pop up.  It gives it a completely different look.  Go on and try it!
