Pumpkin Anyone?

This month’s My Paper Pumpkin was amazing! I’ve taught two free card classes with them and they are a hit. At first I thought that the kits would be great for beginners who want to experiment with the kit, but I quickly realized that the kits are great for the advanced card maker also. I love them because I can put them together with ease and I send them to my customers as well as give them to family & friends. I can give so many of them away because I order three kits a month. That’s how crazy I am about them.

I couldn’t believe that this kit also came with tiny cards that can also be used with gift cards too. They are so darn cute! Click here to learn more about My Paper Pumpkin.

If you’ve been thinking about or considering a kit click on photo below to give it at least one try.

For A True Friend

A True Friend Did your momma ever tell you, “you can count true friends on one hand.”  When I was a kid, I didn’t know what that meant because I had more friends that I could hold with one hand! HAHAHA Like everything, in time, that expression became more clear to me. So if that’s the case, you will recreate this card in no time for only one handful of true friends.  It was seriously so easy to do too.

I stamped the frame and cut it out by hand. I then stamped the image on my card and covered it with the cutout so that when I stamped the swirls it didn’t stamp the frame.  Was that easy? I’ve attached a FREE masking guide HERE.

FriendshipThe listed the products I used below and I’ve also listed both the stamp set in wood and cling clear mount along with the digital download of the stamp set just in case you are a digital designer. You can also try My Digital Studio (Stampin’ Up!’s digital software) for 30 days for FREE.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a fantabulous weekend!

A Heartfelt Message

If you’re here to view the blog hop, don’t worry, just continue scrolling and you will see it.  But if you want to read about my personal stamping story read before moving on.

Birthday

I’m not going to discuss the recent event of the loss of one of America’s beloved comedian/actor, Robin Williams. But what he suffered from… depression. I know too well about depression and I do not hide it and I have shared my personal story many times, but in a nutshell, depression is real and nothing or no one can just make it go away.

After my diagnosis, I found myself stamping and playing with paper, stamps, inks, and the feeling of being in a room full of people, but still feeling alone didn’t go away completely, but my hobby made me feel like it made my days Ridiculously Amazing (like the stamp set). It didn’t happen overnight, it took a few months, but nevertheless I began to feel better.

What added to my feeling of getting out of my funk was the new friends I made.  They are the Pals, led by Mary Fish, the sweetest most loving woman you will ever meet.  There are even more amazing men & women who I call my Pals and they’re literally all over the U.S.  We are a network of support not just for crafting, but we lean on each other when we are suffering in our private lives. We not only communicate via our private Facebook page, but we call, text, and message each other whenever we need each other.

For them I am thankful, grateful, and I love them to pieces. Every single one of them, they will never know what they have done for me.  Even while deployed, they kept my spirits up, they kept me stamping and my mind off war.

I love you with all my heart my sweet Pals!

Birthday

With all this said, I ask that if you suffer from depression, get yourself a hobby! Any hobby, not just stamping because I am living proof that my depression has been lessened and although I can’t say it’ll ever go away, I know I have special friends that will always be there for me.  You see, depression isn’t something that can be immediately cured and if you have a friend whom you know suffers from depression, know that all you have to be is a FRIEND.  Listen to them without judgement, but just let them lean on you… YOU just might save their life.

If you are just so inclined to learn more about stamping you can learn more about My Circle of Pals here or send an email to (maggie@maggiemadecards.com) and ask me anything you’d like to know about joining our group of crafters. You can even just share your story with me even if you just need someone to talk to.

Unedible Macaroons!

Macaroon Dessert

My most favorite (and a little expensive if you ask me) snack in the whole world is the macaroon. Any flavor… I love it. When I first saw the Something for Baby stamp in the Num Num stamp set, the only thing my eyes could see is a macaroon. LOL… how could that be. Simple, I love them!  I know you will love baking them… I mean stamping them.  I even made a video (although I hate my voice) so you can start on them right away.

Macaroon

You are going to love these paperlicious macaroons I created. They were so easy that I even made a video so you can make them too!  Even if you think they look more like hamburgers. LOL

I hope many of you are like me and you don’t too much talk or introductions in videos.  That’s why my videos are kind of plain and straight to the point.  I hope you enjoy learning how to use our stamps in different ways to make new images.  Please leave a comment and tell me if the video is just right, needs more fluff, or re-do completely… LOL.

Dulces Detalles… Sweet Details

Spanish

Sweet Details (translation) for honeycomb paper.  In preparation for my first ever co-ed bilingual workshop this month I came up with this design to show off.  The design is simple enough for beginners, yet enough little bling for advanced card makers.  Couples who stamp together stay together.  Perfect way to relax and involve the family in the best all time hobby!

I’m beyond excited for this class to take place in Sacramento.  I’ve never had a bilingual workshop and I can’t contain myself.  I’ve already created the card that will be put together, but I don’t want to show it until the day of class… LOL

Out of This World BIG SHOT Promotion:  All I can say is WOW!  You are in for a treat because when you buy a Big Shot, you also receive a FREE bundle  that includes framelits and stamps set.  Click here to view see with your own eyes what I’m talking about.

Gifts from My Pals

Who doesn’t like gifts? I know I love them and am so grateful to have such sweet friends.  Friends I would have never met if it weren’t joining Stampin’ Up!

Card Nicole Watt

Nicole Watt of Pixel Maven’s Retreat, is a very talented friend Pal gave this gorgeous Awesomeness card and coaster to me and the funny thing about crafters is that we love to give.  Coasters are the easiest project for a DIY gift and so inexpensive to make.  You can stamp directly on them and spray a clear coat of spray glue or bake them at 350 for 30 minutes.  I’ll be having a future class, so subscribe to my blog (if you don’t already) and find out real soon when I’ll be teaching this technique).

Card Karen Bone

This lovely card was a Convention Pals Card swap and each year I receive card swaps from my Pals and each year I only pass on a handful of them.  Why? Because they are so precious and cute I never want to give them away, but keep them for myself… LOL.

My Dad’s Mustache

Mustache

The mustache is in right now, both on men (maybe some women…LoL), and I see it on so many craft items everywhere I go… I LOVE IT!  I especially love the mustache because my dad has had a mustache ever since first shaved… imagine that! Who do you know has had a mustache YOUR whole life that you don’t even know what they look like without one?

Mustache2

During a brief conversation with another demo I was given a little insider secret.  A few of us were told that we should get the mustache framelit and after seeing the Holiday catalog I knew why we were told that.  I tell YOU, be prepared to WoW those that you make a Christmas card for if you have the framelit of course! (LOL)

Do You Doodle?

Doodle My downline, Shari Alkema showed me how to doodle and we began doodling on the Blended Bloom.  Doesn’t it look fantastic!?  Thank you Shari for showing me how to do this on our images.

Studies show that doodling while in a meeting or a lecture helps boost your memory and concentration. Well, looks like we should give it a try… especially while in a waiting room or in a meeting? LOL  Let me know if it works for you.

Doodle

How did I choose the colors for my fantastic doodle card?  I let the color coach do all the work.  The other side of the colored card stock shows all the colors that compliment each color.  Do you have one?

July Pals Blog Hop: New Hues Review

bhop

Welcome to the July Pals Blog Hop. This month we are featuring a New Hues Review. Let the new Stampin’ Up! In Colors for 2014-16 inspire you – Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey, and Tangelo Twist.  We hope you find great inspiration from our creations.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Kerry Willard Bray at Peonies and Paper Chains, Stop #11 on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

When my eyes first scoured through the 2014-2015 catalog I pretty much fell in love with everything, but I must admit the 2014-2016 In-Colors took a few days to grow in love with.  My all time favorite colors are the Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey.  That’s probably why I chose the Moonlight Designer Paper Stack to use with my project.

Box & Candle

I made a sweet little box big enough to fit a candle, which I stamped as a gift.  I used the Today & Everyday stamp set to stamp tissue paper and I colored in the paper lamps with the lightest of three Blendabilities alcohol based markers (Light: Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, and Melon Mambo).

Box

I placed a Fun Flower on the lid with the same sentiment from the candle, “You Light Up My Life”… how sweet is that!? It fit perfectly inside the Window Word punch too.

The next stop is Nicole Watt at Pixel Maven’s Retreat, Stop #13 on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting and  I hope to see you next month.
