Stamp Ink Paper: Water Color

I impressed myself with my water-coloring abilities.  I mean, I almost feel wow’d because when it comes to water-color, I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing.  I searched for “How to water-color for beginners” on YouTube and that’s it!

You can show us your water-coloring skills over at the Stamp Ink Paper challenge.  Craft level doesn’t matter.  I’m proof you don’t have to have any experience with water-coloring whatsoever.

The Details:

  • How to Get Started.  Believe me, I had no idea where to even start!  So, I went to YouTube and typed Watercoloring for Beginners and it returned me the list…start there and you’ll soon see that it’s easier than you think.  It’s literally how this card happened. he cardstock.
  • Watercolored Butterfly.  I learned about using an acrylic block from a fellow Pal and it was easy too.  First, I stamped the rubber with two different colors and then used our spritzer to spray water straight on the rubber.  It’ll come out different each time giving it a unique look.  Try it.
  • Black Die-Cut.  With the darker butterfly and light background, the black matte and die-cut made the “sunshine” stand out and didn’t overwhelm the entire card, at least that what I thought (HAHA).  It really does look so much more beautiful in person.

Summer Fun

The last three months were a move in progress and now that the move is complete there are cards that never made it to the blog.  I make cards as therapy that has so many benefits.  Many understand it, yet there are more that have no idea.  Yet others, make cards to send and bring a bit of sunshine the lives of many.  Which type of card-maker are you?

I’m not much of a beach person, but I love the sounds of the waves.  When I realized I hadn’t posted this card, I figured it’s never too late to share it.  The card reminds me of a recent vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.  It was very relaxing sitting in a chair listening to the waves as they hit the shore.

The Details:

  • Patterned Paper.  I don’t remember what the designer series paper is called, but it was a left over scrap from a different project.  It simply reminded me of ocean waves.

Stamp Ink Paper: Beach

Although Summer isn’t technically over, school-aged kids associate the end of Summer with the return of the school year.  Today’s Stamp Ink Paper Challenge is the beach and although I’m not a fanatic beach lover, I do love the sound of the ocean.  That is what I tried to capture with this retired stamp set, Seaside Sketches.

The Details:

  • Paper Pumpkin Kit Recyled.  If you’re a Paper Pumpkin subscriber you know that we sometimes may have a a few supplies left over.  That’s where the card base came from.  The lines are not stamped, but rather it’s the printed cardstock.  It was my last one, so I’m really glad I recycled it.
  • Sun in 3D.  The sun is a circle punch which was cut in half to give a sunset popping off the card.  I stacked to Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it an extra lift off the card.
