World’s Greatest!

Father's Day

The man from the Guy Greeting Clear Mount Stamp Set isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!  He’ll keep his presence in the catalog and it makes me happy!  It’s hard enough to find masculine stamp sets and this one is a real gem.  It reminds me of my dad (LOL)…he used to lift weights and has always stressed a healthy lifestyle.

Guy Greetings

Maggie Made Tips:

  • Snip It: I don’t always like stamping on white card stock in rectangular shapes, so I snip the image.  I adhere Stampin’ Dimensionals on the reverse to raise it off the Designer Series Paper.
  • Recycle: I took the card base that had been assembled a while ago and I can’t remember when I put it together.  But I know this, it’s no longer available!  What was I thinking, ugh…but no worries, the Regals Designer Series Paper Stack (still available) has the diagonal black lines.
  • “Dad or Father” Not Needed:  Is it obvious the card is for Father’s Day if I had not written Father’s Day on the post?  I purposely left those words out of the sentiment.  Why? Because I’ll be sending it to all the men in my family who are dad’s.
  • Banner. The banner was made with the new Duet Banner Punch. The sentiment was stamped with Real Red on Whisper White card-stock and punched, a second punched piece was used to layer it.  I snipped the stamped piece so that it would fit on the banner.

Guy Greetings

Thank you so much for checking out the card of the day.  Have a great weekend and take some time out to remember those who have given the Ultimate Sacrifice for our Freedom.  God Bless America!

Happy Father’s Day

355_1 Father's Day

A customer contacted me and asked if I could please make a special card for her husband who is very hard to buy for.  She described what his hobby is and I don’t need to explain.  However, please always watch out for motorcycles and share the road in states where it’s legal.  Have a beautiful day celebrating.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Digital Prints.  This is the digital print Stampin’ Up! once sold as a rubber stamp.  I joined the company after it had retired and only found it when they sold digital prints.  Now that they retired My Digital Studio, I use My Memories Suite and it’s one notch up from MDS, I must say.  You can do so much more with it, but I’m slowly weaning myself off of MDS.  Don’t be afraid of the digital world, there are so many more things you can do with cards…like coloring them in with my new Chameleon markers.

June On-Line Orders.  Receive a sample (one of each) Expressions Natural Elements when you place an order via my on-line store and use Host Code: 7XAYE9K4

No Contact – What it really means.  When you select “No Contact” when you place your on-line order it literally means, “Don’t tell Maggie I placed an order.”  I will not be told who  you are and can’t send you the free product samples.  I would love for you to instead check-mark, “YES, allow my demonstrator to contact me with order updates and other important information.”  Please know that I will never send you junk mail. I want to show you how much I truly appreciate your business.

Money Where My Mouth Is.  I personally invite YOU to look into getting your stampers dream start kit with product you choose!  Hobby stampers this is your chance to buy great quality product at a discount or just take advantage of this month’s two FREE stamp-set offer!  Click here to read the details.

OSAT Blog Hop – Happy Father’s Day

OSAT Hop Button Father's Day My Soldier

“There are many brave Soldiers, but this one is mine!”

Good Day my sweet stampin’ friends…you may have hopped here from Andrea Pancrazio’s awesome project and I urge you to Keep Calm and Hop On (LoL).  If you tuned in from Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge don’t worry the post wasn’t abducted by aliens, it’s right below this post.  Before scrolling on down, why don’t ya check out “One Stamp at a Time” (OSAT) Father’s Day/Masculine blog hop for June.  This hop was created by none other than the Super Power Paper Ninja, Andrea Tracy Tucker at One Stampin’ Mother Tucker and I’m still in awe by the team’s extra-ordinary talent.

The next stop Kim Smith of Crafting Buddy on the OSAT Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you on next month!

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Don’t Spill Your Coffee.   All I’m going to say about this is, “keep a lid on it!”  Just because I now work from home doesn’t mean that I can leave an open coffee cup on my craft desk.  Enough said! (LoL)
  • Add Dimension.  When your image is flat and you want to add color or dimension all you have to do is stamp the image on a different piece of yardstick or designer series paper and cut it out close to the lines and adhere it to the image with dimensional.
  • Printed Sentiment.  Nope, it’s not a stamp set.  It’s the Marine’s Corp’s Riffleman’s Creed.  The first line goes like this, “This is my rifle.  There are many like it, but this one is mine.”  That’s when it hit me……as I was exploring which stamp set to use and I saw G.I. Joe in his cute little parachute.

JUNE ON-LINE ORDERS: Receive a sample (one of each) Expressions Natural Elements when you place an order via my on-line store and use Host Code: 7XAYE9K4

Never Enough Bow-Ties

Father's Day

Do I dare say, “I love bow-ties?” LOL…not Origami, but still represents a Dad or Orville Redenbacher.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Change it up.  The DSP has a diagonal cut and then cut again on the lower right to offset the stripes.  Look again and you’ll see what I’m talking about.  Why did I do it?  Just to be different.
  • Glue Dots.  The hidden adhesive behind those clear buttons. It’s important to have different types of adhesive in your drawer because they all have a purpose.  Fast Fuse works wonder on ribbon too.  It’s strong and light weight without creating a bulky appearance.

Occasions Catalog Ends This Weekend:  So often I hear these words, “Darn it, I knew I should’ve ordered it!”  Then depending on how bad you want it…you’re gonna pay a little more and I know eBay prices is NOT what you want to pay.  I highly recommend that you take one last look at the 2015 Occasions Catalog and order what you really desire.

Creative Thinking.  The other night I thought and thought and then it came to me…how to pretty much earn a FREE membership. Join me for a 15 minute webinar to find out how to take Stampin’ Up! out for a test drive for free or just a couple dollars.  This is only for non-demonstrators who do not have a Demonstrator and desire to join my Circle of Pals team. If you meet those two prerequisates, please sign up here.

Origami Bow-Tie Shirt for Dad

This post is dedicated to my friend Darren Tate, a young man whom I was honored to serve with in Afghanistan and keep his memory in my heart.  “All gave some, but he gave it all.”  Today,  Memorial Day, is a day of Remembrance for those that gave the ultimate sacrifice, so that we could have tomorrow’s.  I miss ya kid!

Father's Day

I love Origami shirts and bow-ties and if you’ve seen my past year’s Father’s Day cards you’ll see that this style is my favorite to do for the father’s in my life.

The Bohemian Designer Series Paper measures 8-1/2″ x 11″ and when you view the Origami shirt visual instruction below you will fold on the 11″ side. You’ll see what I mean when you view the directions.  I used this size because I wanted the card to bow-tie to measure the same ratio as the shirt. Does that make sense?

MAGGIE MADE TIPS

  • Bow-Tie Madness:  I used to make my own bow-ties and when Stampin’ Up! released the Bow Builder Punch I was happy happy happy.  I was actually dreaming of making this card for a few days before I made it too.  Don’t you dream of designing cards?  I thought everybody did. HA!  I used glue dots on the bow-tie because I want the bow-tie to be just a little moveable for a more realistic look.
  • Origami Shirt:  The Origami shirt is so easy to make and you see the step-by-step instructions here.  Designer series paper works perfect for the shirts too because of the awesome patterns.
  • Silk Handkerchief:  Oh yeah!  Use a nice silky smooth ribbon to put inside the pocket.  I took a two inch piece of Whisper White Satin Ribbon to finish off the pocket in style.  For ribbon I love to use the Fast Fuse adhesive because it gives a real strong hold on the material.  Have you tried it?
  • Tiny Banner: When I initially completed the card I had not adhered the word “DAD” to the pocket and it looked pretty plane.  That’s when I decided to pull out DAD stamp in Guy Greeting.  It was the perfect size for the Banner Punch and it made a boring pocket stand out.  After all, the card is for a lucky dad.

Pals Blog Hop: Out with the Old…

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for May where we are preparing for the retirement of some Stampin’ Up! products.  Though it may be goodbye to some very loved supplies, it will make room for the much anticipated new catalog products.  We hope you enjoy the Pals’ creative projects.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from the crafting mastermind Lynn Kolcun at Stamping With Avery’s Owlery, number 32 on the Pals Hop.  If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

Father's Day

Of all the product that will retire next month, there is only ONE that I will miss the most! My Digital Studio (MDS).   It’s the only thing that saddens me because the only space MDS uses is on computer.  I do a lot of custom orders with it and I have it backed up on FIVE different hard-drives.  Yes, I’m that paranoid about losing the program.  Don’t laugh at me…I can almost hear you.

Father's Day

Both of my cards were designed and colored in MDS and printed with my sweet Color Laser Jet printer.  I love the smooth print it creates on our Whisper White card stock.

The next stop is the wonderfully talented Becky Volpp at Inkblossomwithbecky, number 2 on the Pals Blog Hop!  Thanks for visiting; I hope to see you on next month’s Pals Hop!

Father’s Day Bowtie & Cumberbun w/How To Video

Father's Day

Seems like for the last two years my Father’s Day cards are made last minute.  Well, I’ll tell you what, when the men in my life receive this card they will love them!  Simply because I made it with my own two hands.

One of my brother’s even carries last year’s card with him everywhere he goes.  He doesn’t know I know (he does now) that I have seen last years card (view it here) in his portable work clip.  That makes me so happy.

The card below is for my Father.  I made his a different color because simply said, he is the best DAD in the whole wide-world. =)

Father's Day

As you know, I have a full-time job and not only is my time limited for paper crafts, but I don’t like the extra fluff that surround some videos, so I’ve decided to start making KIS-S videos that will last no more than one minute!

Keep It Simple!  Straight and to the point when I want to show you how simple it really is to make a handmade card.

Please let me know if I hit the mark and leave a comment either here or on my YouTube channel.

Thank you for visiting me today.

Father’s Day Tuxedo

One month one and a half weeks down!  Not that I’m bored or anything.  Not one day has been boring.  That’s what happens when you show up to your deployment prepared with a hobby.  I shipped half my craft room to myself in preparation of card making.

Now, look what I had time to create!  Connie Stewart, a fellow stamper is the original creator of this card, I simply changed it up a bit and made it my style.  It goes to prove you don’t have to consider yourself crafty to make beautiful handmade cards.

That’s why there is such a thing as Copy and Share Everything (CASE).  You can then give your card a little bit of your personality by adding a little something different or changing it up completely.  Leave a comment below and let me know what you would’ve done different?

I want to give a shout out to Jodiann J. for joining my Circle of Pals a few days ago.  She took advantage of the special that ended May 30th.  I’m sorry for those of you who missed it.

Jodiann will have so many special perks with Stampin’ Up! she doesn’t even know how many new friends are waiting to meet her with my extended Stampin’ Up! family

Welcome Aboard Jodiann… I can’t wait to get home and stamp together!

A Black & White Father’s Day

I loved making this card so much that I made several.  It is so adorable that the picture doesn’t give it the justice it deserves.  It’s been the simplest and easiest card to make too.  The design does all the talking.  The only part that took a little longer to do was the embossing.  I tripple embossed it with black embossing powder to give it the super wet shiney look and feel.

A fellow Pal (Nina Dee at Deesigns By Nina Dee.) made a similar card and I wanted to make something the same, but different… LoL.  Doesn’t that sound funny.  Everyone has a style and that is what is so great about crafts… you can copy and share everything, simply remember to give credit where credit is due.  =)

FREE CARD CLASS:  Yes,  I provide a private class sessions that consist of basic card making skills.  It only lasts ONE hour and they are fun fun fun.  If you haven’t been to my monthly card camp, send me an email and see what the fuss is all about.  I have 4 spots still open.  I can also provide a private session for you and 6 friends on a different date.  Send me an email for more information.

CURRENT PROMOTION:  Sponsor a class with a $450 sales total and you will receive $115 in FREE product, plus one item at 50% off!!!  The deal is so great… I’m going to have to sponsor one myself… LoL.

Summer Home Base Business Fair at Travis AFB:  If you are coming by to check out the fair, stop by my booth for a chance to win one of two mini card sets shown on their Facebook Page.  Fair attendess… leave a comment below to enter the $25.00 shopping spree.  If you place a $50.00 order on my on-line store your shopping spree amount will be increased to $40.00.  See you there.

A Clean & Simple Father’s Day

As a hobby demonstrator I enjoy teaching and sharing my love of card making.  On the first Friday of every month I hold a ‘by invite only’ FREE card camp.  Only five lucky individuals are invited at a time, not  because I don’t want to share and teach more people, but because I have a small setting to show and teach others what I love.  It only takes one hour and allows for beginners to take their time and not feel overwhelmed or rushed.  This month we created this clean & simple Father’s Day card.  We had so much fun and the friendships formed were golden.

If you live in the Fairfield-Suisun, Vacaville, Travis AFB, Dixon area send me an email for more information and sign up to join us next month.  But you gotta hurry… I have only FOUR (4) seats left for July.  If you want a private session in your home with five of your friends… send me an email.
