Too Cool for Tools Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for August. This month we are showing off our favorite crafting tools – those Stampin’ Up! tools that we just can’t live without. We hope you enjoy our projects!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Just Fun Stamping, 32 on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

CondolenceMy favorite Stampin’ Up! tool (for now) is the Texture Boutique Machine.  However, I used the Big Shot to cut out the Deco Labels framelit. But I love this little powerful machine! It’s little, it takes our regular embossing folder, and it is a whole cheaper to emboss if you are just starting out and don’t have the funds to make the Big Shot purchase (for now). But if you already have the Big Shot, it makes a GREAT gift (Christmas is right around the corner) for the crafter in your life.

Condolence

Pals Blog Hop: Spring is Here

Welcome to the Pals March Blog Hop. This month we are excited to kick-off Spring with our creative projects. We hope you enjoy these creations and we hope Spring finds you soon!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Lynn Kolcun at Stamping with Avery’s Owlery, #28 on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Spring Fence

My creation speaks Spring without a sentiment. I thought about it though… about a thousand times.  But in the end I left it off because the card itself is from a memory of Holland in 1990.

Spring Fence

When I first laid my eyes on the Blessed Easter stamp set, it took me way back to the time I spent in Europe.  I was a young girl exploring the world with the Air Force.  I had never seen such beauty in my life at that time.

To that memory I added the wooden fence I often see lining the homes of many homes during my travels all over the United States.  Growing up in Los Angeles, California… I had never seen wooden fences, only wire ones around the barrio where I grew up.

I made the fence from the Hardwood stamp and simply cut it in half and fussy cut each individual piece of wood.  Stampin’ Dimensionals give it a 3-D pop effect.  The silver mini brads complete the fence and finish off the look of nails.

Pals February Blog Hop: Things We Love About Stampin’ Up!

Feb Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals February Blog Hop.  This month we are excited to share with you what we love about Stampin’ Up! – our stamps, tools, accessories and techniques.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Donna Kopenski at  craftycardmaker, #15 on the Pals Hop.  If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Hearts

If I wrote that I only had one favorite thing about Stampin’ Up! I would be a straight up liar!  I have so many and there is only room for one on this hop.

Right now my favorite tool is My Digital Studio and you can get it for a free 30-day trial!  It took me a little bit to get to know it better and there’s a secret that I’ll reveal at the end of my post so you too can feel comfortable using it… LOL.

Hearts

These sweet little hearts are from the Punch Shapes (118853) collection and the designer series paper is so easy to add, you will be amazed.  I used the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper (Digital Download 136782).

To add the finishing touches simply add your favorite embellishments and watch the card come to life right before your very eyes.

I added Basic Rhinestones (119246), Gold Sequin Trim (132983), and a very small strip of Baked Brown Sugar 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim (130022).

Hearts

The Thanks sentiment comes to you from the Thank You Kindly Stamp Brush Set – Digital Download (118826) and think about it… you can color it any color you choose without an ink pad!  Imagine that!

You can save the card and print it up in a jiffy next time you need one.  Current demonstrators not using MDS, your missing out.  Your customers will love your “thank you for your order cards” made from MDS!

My Digital Studio Secret Revealed

Practice, practice, practice.  It will make perfect… LOL.  You can also do what I did and score yourself the Finest Simplicity Kit – Digital Download (135912) and MDS your heart away!

Timeless Masculine Birthday Card

Often, card maker's such as myself, don't put out a whole lot of masculine cards.  This one was a request by our interpreter. She asked for a masculine card in English.  The only thing she asked for was that it have some blue in it with a masculine touch.  I think her request was met, do you think?

The lines are hand drawn to give it the sound effect.  I can hear happy birthday playing with that little scratch in the background just like an old phonograph player.  Don't you think it even makes it seem like it's on high volume?  I think so… LoL.

Hello and welcome once again… today I bring you a sweet little spider that is supposed to be a black widow.  But now that I look at it… it looks like a round cockroach… I'm laughing so hard, I just spit on my screen (go ahead and laugh)… hahaha.

Either way, spider or cockroach… I hate them both.  The only cool thing with this spider is that it's a paper spider.  They are cute and not scary what so ever.  They are fun and easy to make too.

A paper snipped the legs in an L and just glued them to the back of the body.  The body was made with a 1" circle punch and for the red dot belly I used the circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.  Stampin' Up! punches are very versatile and have a gazzilion uses.  Is that even a word? LoL

I've Got a Treat to Give!

1StacksMy treat for you today is a brand new Hostess stamp set… Stacks of Wishes.  If you'd like a chance to win, simply leave a comment below by Fri., Oct. 11th.  One random winner will be announced on Sat., October 12th, so be sure to come back and check on Saturday!  U.S. address only please.

Lots of Thanks to Our Heros

World Card Making Day

Thank You

I am in awe of World Making Card Day.  This is my first time participating as a card-maker and not as a giver or receiver of one of these beautiful handmade cards.  I have had the pleasure of sending OWH cards to my loved one's a few years back and I have also received them from friends who were deployed.

Since then I too have become a card-maker and today I give thanks to the men and women who sacrifice so much for our freedom.  Thank you OWH for using today to showcase the beautiful works of art that I have personally benefited from.  Now, I give back to my comrades.

Thank You

For this card I used OWH's Sketch #45 simply because my birthday is October 16th and I will turn 45 years old.  I like to celebrate my birthday the entire month because I like to brag about I am…. growing old gracefully… LoL.  However, this year I am deployed and will celebrate my birthday for a whole month when I get home. =)

OWH 45

I was actually quite pleased with the way the card turned out.  Not bad #45… you made me proud.  Funny, in a couple weeks I will turn 45 and I don't know what 45 is supposed to feel like… so I'll just keep acting as young as my heart feels.  That's what my dad always says and he just turned 86 yesterday. =)

All of my friends and family, including my co-workers… know first hand how crazy I am for Hello Kitty.  I've seen so many Hello Kitty cards that I think I racked my brain for weeks trying to figure out which punches I could use to re-create this beautiful kitty… LoL.

I finally found the cat's meow… with three punches that you may already have.  They are the Owl, 1" Circle, and Word Window punches.  You too can make this sweet popular feline that has never stopped being popular since I was an early teen.

Make sure that the whiskers are in line with the eyes and nose.  I've created a step by step PDF instruction sheet to help you.  I hope it helps you put together your own Hello Kitty.  Please feel free to share with anyone you want.

June Pals Blog Hop: All That’s New!

Thank you for joining us for the June Pals Blog Hop and our kickoff to the new catalog! Are you ready to see wonderful creations featuring new products from the 2013-14 Stampin’ Up! catalog? Get ready to update your wishlist!

Wooooo whooooo… my second  “deployed” blog hop.  I’m in awe that I’m still hanging on.  The long hours, late calls, and sometimes sleepless nights are all worth it!  I’ve been on three deployments and this one is different.  Why is it different?  Because although I’m far away from home, at the end of the day… I get to stamp and Stampin’ Up! makes it possible!

When I sit in my tiny room to make a few cards, I think about the 6,762 miles my cards will travel to get to their final destination in the United States.  WoW!  Can you imagine the adventure!?

So, if you’re a subscriber to my blog and you listed your mailing address… know that before I go home you will receive a card from me.  I am living proof that you can take Stampin’ Up! anywhere in the world!

I used the new Framelits – Oval Collection (129381) to make the base of the card.  These framelits are awesome and I love them!  I can’t wait to get the circles and square one’s in the mail.  Unfortunately, it takes two weeks for my mail to arrive, but I will wait patiently.

Supplies Used from New 2013/14 Catalog:
Wildflower Meadow Clear Stamp Set (129168)
Hostess Express Yourself Clear Stamp Set (130339)
Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper (129310)

Pals Blog Hop: Earth Day is Every Day!

Thank you for joining us for the April Pals Blog Hop!  To celebrate Earth Day, the April blog hop  features new cards and projects that capture the essence of Earth Day through colors and images and/or use recycled or reused elements.  We hope you are ready for some fun and creative ideas. You should have just left stop number 24 on the Pals Hop – Rae Harper at Wild West Paper Arts.  If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

If you’ve ever stamped with me you know first hand that I do not throw any paper in the garbage!  Joy C., one of my Circle of Pals calls me the “Paper Police”.  She shakes and trembles (jokingly) when I catch her throwing even a 1×1″ piece of paper in the trash… LoL.  To make my card today I gathered all my used up scraps of card stock and designer series paper and used the Blossom Petals Punch (121808) to design the flower on the Mother’s Day card.

I made many more cards, but for the sake of keeping you moving along, I will post those other cards in the days to come, so come back now.

Left over scraps from various projects.
