Happy Birthday: To A Classic Grandpa

Guy Greetings

Today’s card was custom made for a customer (Mark) in Alaska.  I even mailed it for him.  But what did the inside of it say?  Well, it was easy!  Mark texted me a written message which I printed and cut to size and adhered it to the inside.  Needless to say, anything handmade and custom is always loved.

Quinceañera with SIP 47

IMG_0028

Welcome to another week of Stamp Ink Paper 47, One Element Wonder!  One one element wonder is this very gorgeous die-cut by Gina Marie Designs. Doesn’t it remind you of Audrey Hepburn?  Anyway, I bought this set with a very special young lady in mind, my niece, who turned 15 and in true Mexican fashion she had a Quinceañera last week.  I had also purchased a separate stamp set from another vendor, but it was back-ordered and never received it in time for the party.  However, I must say SHE LOVED IT!

13029484_10153511966918531_5233802653468390943_o

The One Element Wonder used on my card was the die-cut.  I used it three times to put together the main focus of my card.

IMG_0030

For the hair clip necklace, and bracelet I die cut the bottom of the dress with some left-over Gold Glimmer Paper.  I love it when left-overs are used up.  For the numbers I used the retired die-cuts and they really do make a big statement on their own without a sentiment.

Maggie Made Hints:

  • No Fuss Embellishments.  Since I had plenty of gold glimmer paper scraps left-over I ran the die a couple times just to make three of the gold glitter butterflies carve-outs to use as a bow, necklace, and bracelet.  I think the micro size were perfect not he basic black paper silhouette.  I did run the die-cut through the Big Shot twice and trimmed the top right at the arm-pit. LOL  You can’t tell I trimmed it with my paper snips either can ya!?

Decide Today

…On Your Special Day

Birthday

Today’s card is special for two reasons.  Reason one, it’s a Pals Paper Arts team member design by Mary Fish to represent our new make-over.  Reason two, it was especially made for my friend Bryan, whom I’ve known for over 15 years.  He was my BFF before he married my other BFF, which resulted in two BFF’s for the price of one…LOL.  Bryan is that kind of guy that has turns dark skies blue again and sees the positive in everything and everyone.  The world is his oyster.

This morning my son asked, “Mom, so this quarter Stampin’ Up! gives free product?”  I then explained that customers receive free product for every $50 they spend on an order and this is what he did!  He levitated from the excitement…LOL!  If you missed my excitement photo, you can see it here.

Twenty Six SIPs

Birthday

Today is another Stamp Ink Paper sketch challenge day!  I’ve been having server issues for the last few days and it looks like things have been resolved….oh so happy now. =)  But what makes me even more happy is that today’s card is brought to you by a sketch that I got to create (applause here). LOL

SIP 26

I can’t wait to see what you design. Thank you so much for stopping by today.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Designer Series Paper vs. Folder Embossing.  With this design I was going to use an embossing folder to add a little character to the card, but then said to myself, “Self, the earth-tone colored DSP is just fine!”  I chose to leave it alone and let the big bold stamp speak for itself and it looks great the way it is.  No need to bombard the card with too much stimulation.

Share the gift of crafting…the deals are out of this world right now!

Poké(ing) a SIP #16

Birthday Pokémon

This card made as a special request. Magic Mike (my hubby) called me the middle of his two-week long hunting trip to remind me that our nephew’s birthday is on October 1st.  He said, “Can you please make Ben a Pokémon card for his birthday?” See, I’m so addicted to making cards that I often forget to put cards in the mail for family ‘before’ their birthday (lol).

SIP #16

Since today is a new week of the Stamp Ink Paper challenge and it’s designer’s choice, I thought…hmmm why not share the cards I love to make…a very custom personal one.  If I can make a very special card I always try to use Stampin’ Up! before I make them digital and I think this Pokémon card hit the spot!  Now show me what is your favorite type of card to make.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Pokéball.  To make the Pokéball I used the Circle framelits.  From the outside (largest) circle, I used number 2 & 3 (number 2 being next from the scalloped one), and the two inner circles.  After cutting the real red and whisper white card-stock in half I used washi tape to hold them together and ran the second to smallest to cut the hole out in the middle.  The smallest circle was used to cut out the small circle in the middle.  Assemble them with Stampin’ Dimensionals and bam you have a Pokémon ball.

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #13

Masculine Birthday

This birthday card has the greatest significance attached to it.  I made it for my son’s 21st Birthday yesterday (obviously).  Wait, but what gave it away? (LOL)

Candle

To mark his milestone, I had a special candle custom-made by Glamorous Birthday Candles.  Owner, Paula Kelly makes these special beauties with any theme you can imagine.  She is crazy affordable and I’ll definitely be ordering from her again and again. I’ve been a craft for over 30 years and I’ve never seen anyone make such gorgeously cute speciality candels.

For my son’s birthday, we took him to Las Vegas were he had a beer with his dad (and step dad).  He said, “We can have any beer we want as long as it’s a Corona.”  (LOL), it’s a line from his all time favorite Fast & Furious movies.  Happy Birthday Jesse!  We love the young man you have become! This is only the beginning.

SIP 13

This weeks SIP challenge was perfect for the week too.  What can you come up with that uses balloons?  I’d love to see it.

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #11

334.1

Retirement Update #104:  “Where has the time flown!?”  Seriously, I’m enjoying this thing called retirement.  So much so that I’m ear deep in custom orders (I’d say knee-deep, but I’m height challenged and it wouldn’t be a lot).  It’s evident I’m so busy that I haven’t had time to stop by and tell you what I’m up to.  But you will find out in due time, where I’m headed (lol).  Until then, let’s continue with today’s card and challenge.

SIP#11My buddy’s down at the Stamp Ink Paper Crew really did a super challenge for us this week.  I can’t believe that I’m really diggin’ this challenge.  It gave me a choice to choose all the three things that I so dearly enjoy….birthdays, die cuts, and especially my all time favorite—a butterfly!  I’ve shown you mine now show me yours at Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #11.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Clean and Simple.  When you’re short on time and you want to throw a really sweet awesome card for a birthday you may have forgotten turn to clean and simple.  A quick frame and large sentiment will fill up the card and hey, it’s a card worth framing (ha!).

Celebrating Pals Paper Arts with a Birthday

BirthdayToday’s lovely card was transported via jet plane then semi-truck to Wyoming.  A ver special woman lives there.  I love her, I admire her, and I thank God for her.  Who is she?  Well, she’s only the fabulous woman who gave birth to the love of my life.  Happy Birthday Sandy!
PPA 255

This is a call out for all card-makers to join us at Pals Paper Arts this week.  Joining in does two things for you:  1) expands your talent, 2) and brings more exposure to you!  If you’re a demonstrator it means more people will recognize your name and seek you out.  If you’re not a demonstrator then it gives you something to think about.

Birthday

NO CONTACT – What it really means.  When you select “No Contact” when you place your on-line order it literally means, “Don’t tell Maggie I placed an order.”  I will not be told who  you are and can’t send you the free product samples.  I would love for you to instead check-mark, “YES, allow my demonstrator to contact me with order updates and other important information.”  Please know that I will never send you junk mail. I want to show you how much I truly appreciate your business.

Today’s Can You Case It challenge pays homage to our retiring 2014-2015 In Colors with a touch of gold.  I’m truly going to miss them, but I’m looking forward to the new incoming one’s.

Even if you don’t have these exact colors you can use similar colors that match them and get your card entered. Color challenges are good for the soul and help expand the imagination.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Left overs.  When you cut out cardstock with framelits or punches and then decide not to use them don’t throw them out.  Return them to the storage pouch you store them in and save them for a rainy day.  Had I not saved the Deco framelit piece of Strawberry Crush I wouldn’t have been able to put this card together.

Trial Stampin’ Up! Membership.  Follow steps below for a trial membership to take advantage of getting $125 in product for just $99 with no shipping fees (save an immediate 10%).  Get details here.

Retired Product Community.  Are you looking for a retired stamp set and haven’t had luck finding it?  Maybe you can find what you’re looking for in a Facebook group I created just for this purpose. I’m even doing a giveaway today at 3 p.m. (PST) for a Burlap and Blooms Simply Created Wreath kit.

Three Candy Dots with CYCI #69

Happy Birthday Spanish

Today’s card is sort of a good-bye to the Spanish market of Stampin’ Up!  They will not longer produce stamp sets in Spanish and for many of us bilingual demonstrators, it a little sad. But, have no fear, I will continue to come up with innovative ways to make certain my Spanish heritage is represented with my own Spanish versions.  Onward to the CanYouCaseIt Sketch Challenge #69.

Happy Birthday Spanish3
Happy Birthday Spanish2

As I reached the end of compling this challenge card I looked at it and thought to myslef, “Self, what is missing on here?”  Before I could answer myself my hand reach for the Candy Dots. I show both photos because I want you too see for yourself the difference three Candy Dots made.  Just like an Almond Joy…sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t…LOL!

11159486_10205853574313939_6614187806300195738_n

The one thing that will make my day today is if you too joined me at Can You Case It.  You know you want to and I want you to do it too!  Don’t make me beg!  Paticipating in challenges is good for the soul and it relaxes the mind to bring out some creative flow.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Use your scraps.  Did you notice anything on the Daffodil Delight card stock?  It was a scrap I didn’t throw away after I messed up the embossing.  In my jounrey to keep every piece of scrap piece larger than one inch…I’m glad I held on to this one.  I scored it every 1/2″ an inch both horizontally and diagnally.  It just gave it a little lift off the edge on the layered. Why do I mention it?  To remind you to always hang on to your scraps…they really do come in handy later on.

Sneak Peak.  Don’t worry, if you missed it…you can still see it here.

My Story.  I shared my personal story with a new friend (Brenda) last week and this week I’ll be sharing it with all of you.  I hope you come back and check it out too.  It’s pretty exciting too!  From struggle to disappointment and then triumph!  There’s a little secret out there that should be shared with the world.  Better yet, type in your email address below and you’ll be notified when I blog it and you won’t miss it.
