My Thoughts are Happiest When…

Today (Friday) felt like a Saturday… but yesterday (Thursday) felt like a Friday.  Maybe because the day started at 1:15 a.m. followed by meetings and then Fourth of July entertainment.  A singer named Ashanti came out to put on a show for us.  She has a magnificently beautiful voice and the Good Lord certainly blessed her with powerful vocal cords.  Unfortunately, I had no idea who she was and I only recognized one song she sang…. but hey don’t judge me… LoL… I’m old(er) and from a different generation.

I felt a little shameful for not knowing more about her, but I felt better after my 18 year old son didn’t know who she was either… LoL.  Either way, I enjoyed the concert and I am thankful/grateful she took time out of her Fourth of July to entertain us.

My Thoughts2

Every card I have created since May has someone special in mind and this one is no different.  I love the flowers on the Gingham Designer Series paper.  I used my paper snips (another term for scissors) to cut the flower out and layered it on the Blossom Paper Punch.

You too can create your own field of beautiful, calming flowers on your projects with this stamp set.  Perfect way to bloom and grow flowers without a green thumb… no water or weed pulling required… LoL.

NO FUTURE OBLIGATIONS TO JOIN THE CIRLCE OF PALS

Happy Fourth of July

This morning at 1:15 a.m. I left my comfortable warm bed and proudly put on my uniform to give a Fallen Warrior my last respects as she headed onto her final journey home on the Fourth of July.

I had the honor of participating in a Fallen Warrior transfer ceremony about 2:00 a.m. this morning.

It was a warm night with no high wind, and you could hear a pin drop…  the casket was draped securely with our Nation’s great Red, White, and Blue flag as it was transferred from the truck to the C-130… the Commander called us to attention and our arms gave a slow solemn salute on her final flight home.

As we paid our respects and farewell, I couldn’t help but think of her… did she have children, was she married… I may never know, but I felt humbled, sad, proud, just a whirlwind of emotions.  I’ve done this before, and you never get used to it, but today gave the Fourth of July another level of what being American means to me… it will be a day etched in my memory.  May our Fallen Hero’s lives be celebrated for giving selflessly and unselfishly for all of us.

For those who have served our country or have had family members serve in the military, I say, “Thank you.”

FREEDOM IS NOT FREE!

Have a safe Fourth of July and before lighting up your grill and
fireworks pause and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice,
so we may continue our tradition.

Clean and Simple Personalized Note Cards

Have you ever made your own personalized note cards?  I never have (yet) and this one was not for me.  Here’s the story… of a lovely lady, who had not two note cards, but four… LoL… her name was Mrs. Brady… LoL.  Let me stop laughing and continue with my note card story.

As I sat at our watering hole, Pete’s, minding my own business waving at the Marines walking by, a co-worker brought her chips and dip to share with me (I didn’t eat any because I’m trying to stay away from junk food)… the first thing I noticed were a set of notecards (whisper white in color and a golden embossed “P” on them).

I didn’t skip a beat and said, “*Pam, you know you could make your own note cards for much much much cheaper than what you probably paid for those!”  She laughed and replied, “oh really?  I paid a bunch of money for these!”

So, what did I do?  That very night, I made her a sample of what she could do.  My my my, I just happen to have some gold embossing powder and a heat tool in my room (wink).  I used my Morning Post Alphabet stamps and heat embossed it with gold.  To add some bougie to it… I stamped the envelope with a “P” in Soft Suede ink (126978).

*Real name not used to protect the innocent. (LoL)

Stampin’ Up! For You

Have you ever received a package and you get all caught up in the excitement of tearing it open because you feel like it’s Christmas?  That happens to me each time someone sends me a card or a care package.  It takes me back to my childhood and I love every minute of it.

But sometimes… as the box is torn open I start looking for a note, a card, anything with the resemblance of someone’s writing… just to find nothing.  Although I’m thankful and pretty excited about my gift… I can’t help but feel cheated… LoL.

So, each time I’ve sent  a few gift to family or friends I try to always enclose a little gift card like this one.  Well, maybe not just like it, but something quick and easy or clean and simple that says, “hey, this is for you.”

The center of my flower came from the A Round Array stamp set.  The A Round Array set gives you endless, adorable possibilities for cards, banners, and scrapbook pages.  It coordinates with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, which I did not use.

Instead I took a sponge dauber and lightly sponged around the stamp to give it a daisy look.  I do apologize, but the tiny leaves are from our last Sale-a-bration Bloomin’ Marvelous.  If you don’t have it, you can always use the Little Leaves Sizzlits Die and add a little dimension to it..

Stampin’ Up! a Love You

I am in love with the new Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series paper.  Talk about happy, bold, and bright all in one set of paper!  I sent this one home just the other day, but I won’t say to whom because my family keeps up with my blog.  I send my whole family a card, but with this one… I’ll let them be surprised… LoL.

This card layout is brought to you by Pals Paper Arts 161 sketch challenge

I embossed the scallop with one of the Mosaic Madness stamps in Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder.  The silver heart was punched out with the tiny heart from the Two Step Owl punch.

Double Your Kindness

Double Thank You

I was overwhelmed with beautiful words of ‘Kindness’ from everyone who has visited my blog in the last few days.  These four cards are the perfect way to say “THANK YOU” for your kind emails, comments, and for those of you who now follow my paper journey.

I truly enjoyed reading your messages of support and appreciation for our military.  We truly are a great nation and I am proud to serve.

I love making cards and sharing them with my fellow Airmen.  I especially enjoy making sets, like these for my down-line, Circle of Pals.  They all share in Mary Fish’s awesome leadership and benefits.  We have an awesome virtual group and we give each other support and lots of encouragement.  Many of my Pals have sent me dozens of cards and I always share them on our private blog.

They have made this deployment an enjoyable one.  Everyday I check with our Xray Technician who doubles as our mailman and then we all gather around just to see what kind of card I have received.  It’s amazing the journey a card will take to reach me… I LOVE IT!

I get all the oooo’s and ahhhh’s and they comment on the cards.  This weekend I’m fixin’ to put some card kits together, so I can pass them around at work and they can make one for themselves.  My target?  The men!  LoL.

Until the Next Post…

Quick Birthday Wishes!

Recently, I posted to my Facebook fans that I had stopped giving away free product because I didn’t feel there was a large enough interest in it.  One person, Ms. Maureen left me a message that was funny, so right then and there I decided to give her a My Paper Pumpkin kit.

She is a faithful subscriber to my blog and Facebook page and I wanted her to know how much I appreciate her.  Although I enjoy your comments, my blog is all about what I can do for you!

This card was made for a co-worker (at my deployed location) that was signed by everyone.  Inside it said, “Recent studies show that people who continue to have birthdays… live longer.”  Hilarious… why?  Because it’s so true.

Until the Next Post…

Keep an eye out for the Pals Blog Hop on June 11th!

A Mata-fied Heart Framelit & Freshly Made Sketch

[pinit]I was invited to a luncheon for a friend who received a promotion at work.  It was only fitting to use the Freshly Made Sketch challenge as a layout.  As a hobby Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, my free time is very limited and it is easier for me to use a sketch challenge to make a card than come up with my own design, which can take an hour or more.  I highly recommend using sketch challenges to develop one’s paper-craft skills (like me) when time is limited.  The envelope was icing on the cake and it was a big hit.  The recipient held on to it and treated it like an extension to the card.  I found it funny because who keeps envelopes?  Do you?

Since we are just around the corner to Valentine’s Day and the Heart Collection framelits are so darn cute, I have been using many hearts lately.  I wanted to add a special touch to the message on the inside of the card and a heart just seemed to complete it.

I love {Freshly Made}, they provide challenges that even a novice stamper can handle.  It gets my imagination going and the sketches are ALWAYS realistic.  Thank you so much for helping me find my nitch.

Card Ingredients
Stamp Set: Perfect Words (Wood 122470, Clear 122472)
Paper: Mocha Morning DSP (122366), Very Vanilla (101650)
Ink: Early Espresso (119670)
Cool Framelits: Hearts Collection (122559)

for Stampin’ Up! supplies… open 24/7.
