PPA 128 Color Challenge with a Kiss

Words of wisdom to the novice stamper… join in on the fun with a challenge… PAPER PALS ARTS is perfect!  It will not only motivate your creative side, it will make you think outside the box, and increase traffic to your blog (if you have one).  I’m a hobby stamper, but with my type A personality, I want to get better and better.  What better way than to participate in card color challenges.  This challenge was actually hard for me, but I got it done during my lunch break from work… =)

A co-worker mentioned to me, “I need to buy a card off of you for Valentine’s Day.”  I had to remind him that I don’t sell cards, I give them away.  So, Chuckie, if your reading this, leave a comment and it’s yours.

{LOVE}

[pinit]This card actually started out as a heart shaped card using my Big Shot Framelits Hearts Collection…. but I messed it up and cut too much off the top, so I got two heart scallops instead of one.  I’m not one to throw things out and start all over again, so I made use of  a mistake and instead made a prettier card than what I thought I was going to make.  After I put the sentiment and hearts together, it still looked plain, so I daubed a bit of Real Red Ink while holding a heart pattern.  The tiny flowers from the Itty Bitty Punch shapes and the square lattice embossing added the extra dimension I was looking for.

I daubed the second heart and aligned it on the inside for a personal Valentine note.  I almost don’t want to give it away, but if I don’t it will collect dust on my bookshelf instead of bringing a little bit of sunshine into somebody’s day.  Thank goodness for card challenges, without the Paper Pals Arts challenge, I would have never made a mistake that made the card even more beautiful… =)

A Mata-fied Heart Framelit & Freshly Made Sketch

[pinit]I was invited to a luncheon for a friend who received a promotion at work.  It was only fitting to use the Freshly Made Sketch challenge as a layout.  As a hobby Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, my free time is very limited and it is easier for me to use a sketch challenge to make a card than come up with my own design, which can take an hour or more.  I highly recommend using sketch challenges to develop one’s paper-craft skills (like me) when time is limited.  The envelope was icing on the cake and it was a big hit.  The recipient held on to it and treated it like an extension to the card.  I found it funny because who keeps envelopes?  Do you?

Since we are just around the corner to Valentine’s Day and the Heart Collection framelits are so darn cute, I have been using many hearts lately.  I wanted to add a special touch to the message on the inside of the card and a heart just seemed to complete it.

I love {Freshly Made}, they provide challenges that even a novice stamper can handle.  It gets my imagination going and the sketches are ALWAYS realistic.  Thank you so much for helping me find my nitch.

Sizzlits Birthday

My cousin Veva sizzles… so on her birthday she deserved a SIZZLITS Paper Doily.  I took the large sizzlits die and cut the center out.  The card can easily be turned into a Valentine’s Day card by using a Loving Thoughts stamp, such as FOR EVER & ALWAYS, WONDERFUL YOU, or THOUGHTS OF YOU.  Take a look at the Occasions Mini Catalog to check out what you can make.

Happy Stampin’
Maggie
