Stamp Ink Paper: Guitar Song #72

Thank You

This weeks starts off with no more Pals Paper Arts, but I have found a plug for the hole in my heart and you’ll see it real soon.  This week,  Stamp Ink Paper Challenge sings me a Stampin’ Up love song with the guitar from the Country Livin’ Stamp Set.

Stamp Ink Paper #72

You don’t need to know how to play a guitar to stamp it on a handmade card to send someone music for their soul.  Post your card here.

Thank You

The Details:

  • Wood Guitar.  To create a realistic wooden guitar, I stamped on the wood paper from the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack and then hand-snipped it.  Looks super realistic and I love it don’t you!?

Butterfly Shaker Card

Thank You

I can’t begin to tell you how much I learned while in New York the last few days.  I learned from two of the industries best and today I bring you my very first encased shaker card. I bet that blew your mind…LoL.  I’ll tell you all about it below, but in the meantime, I share with you two photos from my unforgettable New York trip.

New York Trip

Michael Trent & Justin Krieger greeted me with open arms.

SIP #7

Today’s Stamp Ink Paper #7 color challenge combined with my recent New York trip has officially brought me out of my shell.  Justin introduced me and trained me with a new tool called the Fuse.  It’s basically a heat tool that seals shaker cards.  I’m in love with it and you’re sure to see many more different type of shaker cards real soon.

Thank You
MAGGIE MADE TIPS
:

  • Encased Butterfly.  Yes, the stamped butterfly is inside of the butterfly shaped shaker card along with the silver sequins.  Here’s a video that shows you how to use the Fuse tool and make a shaped shaker card.

A Card with Tic Tac Toe

ThanksToday I conducted research on the power of a hand-written note and I had no idea that there is actual scientific research that proves the power of sending a hand-written note improves fine motor skills and expression‘, but it makes the receipt to feel valuable and worthwhile. Imagine that!  Seriously, when you receive a hand-written note how does that make you feel?  Leave a comment telling me how you feel when you get a special note in the mail.

When I go through the junk mail and find a note, my heart speeds up as if it’s going to explode if I don’t hurry up and open, talk about an immediately dose of sunshine on my face, and I almost get paper-cuts trying to rip it open just to read the words.  Thank you Rose for the beautiful heartfelt card you sent me (pictured below).

Challenge 6

It’s that time again for another Stamp Ink Paper Challenge and this time it’s Tic-Tac-Toe!  Call me slow, but when I first saw this challenge it took me a while to understand it.  Blame it on my first language…yes, I spoke English when I was eight years old…LOL.  But it was easier than I thought and if you’re anything like me all you do is choose a winning combination and use the square requirements to make your card.  I used the middle, Embossing, Patterned Paper, and Thanks!

ThanksMAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Embossed Elegance.  Nothing says style like gold embossing.  It’s the easiest and fastest way to show fine lines and softness in an image.  Nothing else is needed, not even an embellishment, at least not in my eyes.  It doesn’t get any easier than this my friends.
  • Yesterday’s Window Frame.  As promised below is the How-To video on the window frame. Please forgive my big head…LoL… it got in the way for a moment.

FullSizeRender-2 copyI received this card in the mail this week and it made me feel so appreciated and loved by my sweet friend Rose.  My hands couldn’t open it fast enough because I had no idea why I even deserved it.  Thank you Rose for warming my heart and making my day!

Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting me today.  Don’t forget to leave a comment and tell me how you felt the last time you receive a hand-made card or letter in the mail.

A Different Way to Say Thank You

365_3 Thank You

Today’s card started off as a card sketch challenge and I got really sleepy half way through it so I took a nap.  When I awoke, I forgot about the card and started doing something else.  Ahhh, the life after the Air Force is so harsh (LOL).  But seriously, I often find myself day-dreaming of having water-cooler conversations.

365_2 Thank You

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Division of color and patterns.  To divide the solid and lined earth-tone colors I used Early Espresso to show a bit of contrast and give a little pop or darker color.  I mean, why does Real Red get all the props when it comes to giving pop to a card!? What other colors would you suggest using instead of Real Red to give some pop?
  • Color Blending (My Way).  In order for the Very Vanilla Flower Medallion to blend with the card base, I cut the layers 1/8 of an inch smaller than the card base to pull from the Very Vanilla color. The card base is A2 size (measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″).

Thank You My Paper Pumpkin

TY MPP

There are two simple words that show you are grateful for what was done or given to you.  I often like to say, “There are not enough thank you’s in the world to show you my gratitude.”

So, today I say THANK YOU to you… my friend!  Thank you for signing up to follow My Paper Journey.  I’ve been at this for two years and I have learned so much from you and the blog.  If you haven’t signed up you can click right here and sign up now.

TY MPP

The card is an upscaled version of March’s My Paper Pumpkin and if you haven’t signed up to get the monthly kit delivered straight to your door step all I can say is your missing out on some fantastic kits.  If you missed the orignal kit card, you can find the original right here.

Lesson Learned:  You can take an original design and change it up a bit to make it your own.  With this card I used the same elements that came with the kit… the wooden ‘thank you’ die cut and the arrow stamp.

To make it my own I stamped the die cut in Silver Metallic ink with sponge daubers.  Then I embossed the arrow stamp with Silver embossing powder to give it texture.

Finally, to mimic the original card I used the flower punch that comes with the Punch Pack to give it a sparkle finish.

Pals February Blog Hop: Things We Love About Stampin’ Up!

Feb Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals February Blog Hop.  This month we are excited to share with you what we love about Stampin’ Up! – our stamps, tools, accessories and techniques.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Donna Kopenski at  craftycardmaker, #15 on the Pals Hop.  If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Hearts

If I wrote that I only had one favorite thing about Stampin’ Up! I would be a straight up liar!  I have so many and there is only room for one on this hop.

Right now my favorite tool is My Digital Studio and you can get it for a free 30-day trial!  It took me a little bit to get to know it better and there’s a secret that I’ll reveal at the end of my post so you too can feel comfortable using it… LOL.

Hearts

These sweet little hearts are from the Punch Shapes (118853) collection and the designer series paper is so easy to add, you will be amazed.  I used the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper (Digital Download 136782).

To add the finishing touches simply add your favorite embellishments and watch the card come to life right before your very eyes.

I added Basic Rhinestones (119246), Gold Sequin Trim (132983), and a very small strip of Baked Brown Sugar 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim (130022).

Hearts

The Thanks sentiment comes to you from the Thank You Kindly Stamp Brush Set – Digital Download (118826) and think about it… you can color it any color you choose without an ink pad!  Imagine that!

You can save the card and print it up in a jiffy next time you need one.  Current demonstrators not using MDS, your missing out.  Your customers will love your “thank you for your order cards” made from MDS!

My Digital Studio Secret Revealed

Practice, practice, practice.  It will make perfect… LOL.  You can also do what I did and score yourself the Finest Simplicity Kit – Digital Download (135912) and MDS your heart away!

The next stop is Natalie Bradley at Natalie Bradley Events, #17,  on the Pals Blog Hop!  Thanks for visiting and  I hope to see you next month.

Thank You So Much!

Thank YouGosh!  I have so much to say and not enough space.  I returned from Leadership yesterday and was able to meet and hug some of my Pals.  They truly kept my spirits up while I was deployed last year.  I’ve posted some pictures below.

I also made new friends on the way home and I think a shout out is in order.  My seat-mate Liz from Arizona was such a sweet and (very) beautiful lady that I had the pleasure of meeting.  She had me at, “I’m not very creative.”  LOL

I really do hope she puts the card I gave her together and then posts a comment about how easy it was to ‘not be creative’.  =)  Liz, if you’re reading this, it was my utmost pleasure chatting it up with you.

Another shout out goes to Dora, the sweetest Spanish-speaking lady from Houston.  She was so happy and appreciative that I spoke to her that she gave me her address and I will be sending her our Spanish catalog.  You can get yours here (available in English too).

Kim from Washington gets my 3rd shout out.  She’s also a demonstrator and she is truly fired up for Stampin’ Up!  She is a great example to others that networking outside of your group is a plus!  Thank you kindly for subscribing! =D

Thank You

You won’t believe that this ‘thank you’ card took me 15 minutes to put together!  It was all put together with left over scraps.  Thus, the importance that you should never throw away scrap paper after a project.

Products Used…  Stamp Set:  Peaceful Petals (133107).  Embossing Folder: Decorative Dots (Earn for FREE during Sale-a-Bration 133520).  Paper: Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock, Daffodil Delight Card Stock, Tempting Turquoise Cardstock, Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper (132994), and the Bitty Butterfly Punch (129408).

MarkersIf you say to me, I don’t like ‘free’ stuff then I would say, uh uh, not true… we all like free stuff.  How do you get free markers?  Enroll in My Paper Pumpkin right here right now now through January 25, 2014.

This is perfect for you Liz!  Proof that you don’t have to be creative (wink).  I highly recommend you click here and get yours now!

From the Bottom of My Heart

As I reflect back on the last six months of my deployment I think about how it flew by so fast.  The saying, "time flies when you're having fun" holds true to me.

It's been real, it's been fun, but it hasn't always been real fun.  I'm just happy that Stampin' Up! is a portable business and hobby!

This card is for you, my stamping friend, my visitors, my subscribers, my family, and my friends.  My deepest sincerity for thinking of me and sending me your thoughts, prayers, and care packages.

There could be no better stamp set to use use when giving thanks.  To me, it gives off an old-fashioned feeling when inked on paper.  It's perfect for giving thanks.

I used the Small Heart punch to give the word heart a real red emphasis.  I love rhinestones and take any opportunity to put them anywhere on a card to add the extra sparkle.  Leave me a comment and tell me if you have a favorite embellishment.

The only thing I could ever ask for from you is to share me with someone who is new to crafting.  Whether it's making handmade cards, digital cards, hybrid cards, scrapbooking, or just anything crafty.  All you have to do is slick on the gray envelope below and "share the love."  I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. =)

Thank You So Much Pals!

Recently, I needed some of our Spanish catalogs for a Show & Tell and I ran out.  I asked my creative sisters (over 400+) if anyone had any left they could sell me.

Immediately, they responded and they helped me out FREE of charge!  Do you have people in your creative life that have never met you, yet your hobby has brought you together and your friendships are so meaningful you feel truly connected?

I have my own Circle of Pals and we belong to an even stronger group of Pretty Pals…. over 400+ in all!  I’m NOT exaggerating either.

We connect not just in person, but virtually, Facebook, Pinterest, and YouTube.  They give me creative ideas and feedback when I’m not feeling creative or I need some coaching.

My hobby and new friends have enriched my life and to thank them I send them “thank you” cards for their generosity.  YOU too can be in my Circle and become a part of the most wonderful beautifully creative people in the world.
