Pals Paper Arts: Sketch Challenge by Linda Callahan

Pals Paper ArtsThere are times in our lives when everything goes off kilter.  This card may have been a premonition and once I summarize you may agree.  When I completed Linda’s spectacular sketch I had to make about five cards because I was preparing to undertake a three and a half week vacation across the US in my hubby’s Mini Cooper (oh fun)!

Two weeks into our vacation, I received that dreaded 5 AM call…dad’s in the hospital.  This card is now how I feel….gloomy. It just goes to show that often what we see takes a different twist on how we feel.  I really love the new Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack and when I made the card it looked like the sky blended with the ocean with a bright sun behind it…at least that’s the look I wanted to achieve.
Pals Paper Arts

It would be such an honor if you entered the challenge this week and I’d love to see your card over at Pals Paper Arts.

Stamp, Ink, Paper: You’re My Anchor

Stamp Ink Paper

Today’s card was made for the Stamp Ink Paper Sketch Challenge #58. I’m not much of a punch artist, but today’s card is a little bit nautical and one little fish that I made with the bow builder punch.  I didn’t make a video or anything, but follow down below to read how it was made.

SIP-Challenge-58

Join us this week the SIP here.

The Details:

  • The Fish: With the Bow Builder punch the bow tie without the rectangle strip (you won’t need it). Use the fin looking piece to back the back of the fish.  With the longer piece you’ll need to use your paper snips to trip one side of the bow to make it a little round (as desired, after all…it’s your fish) LOL.  Use the “eyeball” measurement to figure how much to cut on the other side so that the fin comes through.  Then just adhere it together and wha-la your punch art masterpiece.
  • Fishing String: Everyone knows that fishing string is clear and since we don’t have clear thread or ribbon I used our Silver Metallic Thread to symbolize the fishing string.  I twirled it around my fingers to create a rope like circle around my hand and then just adhere it to the back of the fish with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It gives the fish a little pop off the label.

World’s Greatest!

Father's Day

The man from the Guy Greeting Clear Mount Stamp Set isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!  He’ll keep his presence in the catalog and it makes me happy!  It’s hard enough to find masculine stamp sets and this one is a real gem.  It reminds me of my dad (LOL)…he used to lift weights and has always stressed a healthy lifestyle.

Guy Greetings

Maggie Made Tips:

  • Snip It: I don’t always like stamping on white card stock in rectangular shapes, so I snip the image.  I adhere Stampin’ Dimensionals on the reverse to raise it off the Designer Series Paper.
  • Recycle: I took the card base that had been assembled a while ago and I can’t remember when I put it together.  But I know this, it’s no longer available!  What was I thinking, ugh…but no worries, the Regals Designer Series Paper Stack (still available) has the diagonal black lines.
  • “Dad or Father” Not Needed:  Is it obvious the card is for Father’s Day if I had not written Father’s Day on the post?  I purposely left those words out of the sentiment.  Why? Because I’ll be sending it to all the men in my family who are dad’s.
  • Banner. The banner was made with the new Duet Banner Punch. The sentiment was stamped with Real Red on Whisper White card-stock and punched, a second punched piece was used to layer it.  I snipped the stamped piece so that it would fit on the banner.

Guy Greetings

Thank you so much for checking out the card of the day.  Have a great weekend and take some time out to remember those who have given the Ultimate Sacrifice for our Freedom.  God Bless America!
