Stamp Ink Paper: Love

I’m in Love with anything creative and handmade and so is the rest of  the Stamp Ink Paper Design Team.  Today we made our cards to reflect anything about Love and my card is a birthday card to my great-uncle who will turn 69 in a couple of weeks.  Join us this week and show off some LOVE at the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge blog.

Sometimes I have no idea what my cards will come out when I’m not using a sketch.  So, I go at it blindly and so far, I’m always pleased with the outcome.  I’m a little jealous of card-makers who can whip out a card in an hour or less.  I totally admire their talent.  This one took me 2 days…oh my.  But, it’s the love I have for card-making that doesn’t matter how long or how little it may take.  Anything made with LOVE is totally worth it.

The Details:

  • Sunken Heart Cutout.  After adhering the Playfull Pallette DSP to Basic Black Cardstock, I used a heart from the Sweet & Sassy collection to cut out the heart.  I then doubled up the Stampin’ Dimensionals to add height to the cutout.  The heart with the 69 was adhered to the base first before the frame before the Stampin’ Dimensionals were applied (hope that made sense).  Doing so allowed me to center it perfectly on the base.
  • Tricky Hello Thinlits. There are endless types of glue one can use to apply very thin embellishments, but know that you don’t need to purchase tons of different types of glue.  Stampin’ Up! has the most strongest Fine-Tip glue pen that works extremely well.  No need to run it through another type that requires another gadget. I love it!!!

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge: Christmas in July

Christmas

I love Christmas, my favorite time of year and today it almost feels like Christmas.  I have always loved the Wondrous Wreath stamp set when it initially came out.  I have used it many times and this is definitely a set that is going to become one of those classics.  So many people wait until the last-minute to get one and next thing you know…BAM! It’s gone, whether through retirement or popularity.  My rule of thumb is to get a set that has the most versatility.  Enough said! =)

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge

Please share your Christmas in July card, so that the rest of us can begin gathering ideas for our own cards. Please and thank you for joining us.

The Details:

  • Need a Door?. The hardwood stamp is perfect to give your card the appearance of a wooden door.  Yes, embossing it with the woodgrain folder would have given it a little dimension, but my goal was to keep it simple.
  • Underused Die-Cut. The metal horn (kind of reminds me of a shoe horn) used to hold the wreath on the door is a little underused and I almost never use it, except for today’s card. I already cut it with a left over piece of silver foil sheet when I realized, I used the gold foil sheet for the door knob.  Did you even notice it? HAHAHA
  • Lighter Shade of Red. The ribbon is actually stamped with Real Red ink, but before stamping it I stamped it off once to lighten the color.  It gives it an almost pink look doesn’t it?

JULY ON-LINE ORDERS.  Use Host Code CMMR9D62 and receive a gift from me  when you place an on-line order via my on-line store.  Do not use if your order is more than $150. You will receive additional Host Reward and you’ll automatically receive a gift from me.

Almost 21 at Stamp Ink Paper

I have made and collected far too many cards than I can count that I just can’t part with.  There is a little bit of me in each card and this card is no different than many others.  Eventually I will give it to someone and until then, it will sit in my collection.

Thank You

One Color Image.  I used to be the type of stamper that felt each image needed to be colored in or stamped with a solid color.  But when Stampin’ Up! released the Remarkable You stamp set it was immediately apparent any one color is just amazingly perfection.

Oval Scrap Piece.  The one hundredth reason I keep ALL my scraps (I really do), why cut an entire piece of card cardstock of Blushing Bride when I’ve had one cut for over six months!? Exactly…..great minds think alike (LOL).  The only product on this card that was not a left-over scrap were the itty bitty pearls.  How do ya like them apples? HA!

Thank You October On-Line Orders.  Receive Five Yards of Silver Cording Trim when you place an on-line order this month.  Simply place an order via my on-line store and use Host Code: E3X9E4SK

You Are More Than Welcome to Try Us Out.  My group is mostly all hobby demo’s who join for the discount on paper-crafting supplies don’t want the commitment of holding classes or being a salesperson (yuck right)!?   I welcome these types of demo’s with Arms Wide Open, so don’t fear a committment or a penalty if you sign up for the discount.  Heck, you can even team up with a friend because my team is a non-hassle, non-committment, no sales requirement team.  What does that mean?  Read it  here.

Pals Paper Arts #256 Makes Me Happy

Father's DayYou’re only late to a party if you don’t show up (LOL). Today my card is my entry into the Pals Paper Arts #256 sketch challenge.  I am loving the Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper.  Anything black & white looks fabulous with gold.
PPA 256You have until tomorrow to enter this challenge.  This was a really nice layout challenge too. I love the way my card came out.

Father's Day

I want you to see the 3-D effect on the banners. You can’t really see the raised banner very well in the photo above.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Never Enough Gold.  A card will step up in elegance when you add gold or silver as a layer.  The two diagonal banners look like silver in the photo, but the layer is actually whisper white. Ahh, the magic of iPhone 6 plus photography.
  • Card Details.  Card base is 5″ x 5″, gold foil paper is 4-3/4″ x 4-3/4′, basic black is 4-1/2″ x 4-1/2″, DSP is 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″.  Banners are 1″ in width and eye-balled in length.  The heart is from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.

June On-Line Orders. Receive a sample (one of each) Expressions Natural Elements when you place an order via my on-line store and use Host Code: 7XAYE9K4

No Contact – What it really means. When you select “No Contact” when you place your on-line order it literally means, “Don’t tell Maggie I placed an order.” I will not be told who you are and can’t send you the free product samples. I would love for you to instead check-mark, “YES, allow my demonstrator to contact me with order updates and other important information.” Please know that I will never send you junk mail. I want to show you how much I truly appreciate your business.

Try it before you commit.  My personal story, I had never in my life heard of Stampin’ Up! until my first Afghanistan deployment in 2009.  Two years later…I was offered the opportunity to become a Hobby Demo.  I told myself I’d join just to get the free Big Shot and then quit.  Well, I can’t quit such a good thing (LOL).  I extend the offer to you, join for the fun, join for the new friendships, or just to get some great quality product at a discount.  Do it before June 30th and receive two FREE stamp sets offer!  Click here to read the details.

Notecard Gifts in My Digital Studio

Note Cards MDS

Do you use My Digital Studio? If you do…have you used it to make notecards like these for gifts? If you don’t…you should. Why? Just look at what you can make for gifts! LOL

Seriously, I made a few sets of classic his & her notecards and gave them as Christmas gifts. But hey, you can still make them for Birthday, Anniversary, or Congratulations gifts. Imagine all the money you can save AND how much more a handmade gifts are appreciated.

Notecards MDS

Notecards MDS

If it’s not obvious these to lucky friends are from New Orleans, LA and they just happen to be Saints fans (just in case you missed it)… HA!

MAGGIE MADE THOUGHTS:

  • Did you know that men’s and women’s teeth are shaped slightly different? What does this have to do with this post!?
  • Well, when I made these notecards I made the fleur-de-lis just slightly different in each card. Bryan’s set has a rigid sharp cornered fleur-de-lis and Sindy’s is more rounded with delicate curves.
  • So, in the same way teeth are slightly different, so are the watermarks in each card. Now does the first bullet make sense? LOL

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

I’ve been a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator for three years now and I’ve grown successfully in each year. In about a week or so I’m going to make a super announcement that has me ‘all shook up’ (in Elvis Presley’s voice). I’m so excited because when I was initially given the news I couldn’t stop smiling. When one door closed another opened and I can’t wait to share it with you!

Tools of the Trade:

Golden Stars

Gold Star2

Star light star bright, the first gold star I see tonight… yes, I made this up, but just look at the vibrant yellow golden stars in all their beauty right in front of your eyes.  I’m mostly a white gold kind of girl, but the Fab Friday 50 crew’s card challenge was gold and Whisper White.  Please leave a comment below and tell me if you heat emboss or if you would like to learn.

Fab Fri Logos-053

I normally don’t do too many color challenges because as I’ve said before and I’ll say it again – I’m NOT crafty! But that’s what I love about card making, everyone Creates and Shares everything – LOL.

Gold Star

Now let me tell you how I put it together – I stamped the stars with Versamark and heat embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss.  I applied the rhinestones to give it that extra sparkle that every girl loves (diamonds truly are a girl’s best friend – LOL).  I then stamped the BE MERRY on vellum paper and can you believe I adhered it with Crystal Effects!?  I dabbed on a tiny bit of the glossy lacquer behind the stamped image and it worked perfect on the vellum!   I’ve listed the items I’ve used below so that you too can replicate the card.
