blog hop

Thank you for joining us for the September Pals Blog Hop. This month we are showcasing projects made with the Stampin' Up! tools we love.

You should have just left stop number 18 on the Pals Hop – Debbie Crowley at expressivelydeb.  If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

All of my friends and family, including my co-workers… know first hand how crazy I am for Hello Kitty.  I've seen so many Hello Kitty cards that I think I racked my brain for weeks trying to figure out which punches I could use to re-create this beautiful kitty… LoL.

I finally found the cat's meow… with three punches that you may already have.  They are the Owl, 1" Circle, and Word Window punches.  You too can make this sweet popular feline that has never stopped being popular since I was an early teen.

Make sure that the whiskers are in line with the eyes and nose.  I've created a step by step PDF instruction sheet to help you.  I hope it helps you put together your own Hello Kitty.  Please feel free to share with anyone you want.

The next stop is Martie Pollard at The Crafty Bandit, stop number 20 on the Pals Blog Hop!  Thanks for visiting – and I hope to see you next month!

Tea in Color

Tea Color 1

Who remembers this card in black & white?  Take a look at it here and you may think, "Wow!  What a difference a little color makes."  It really isn't very hard to make an old black & white pop right… and they don't have to be bright bold colors either.

Tea Color 2

I was going to color in the pearls, but decided against it once I saw the green made them stand out.  I added a small amount of Crystal Effects to make the tea cup look like it was full, but the picture really doesn't do it justice.

My Monday is ending when your's is just beginning… so I guess you can say I have lived 10-13 hours of the future and it's still here.  =)  With all that going on in the world it is an inner peace we must seek and I find it in card making.  An old boss once told me, "Maggie, you have missed your calling."  She said this after a few months of working for her and she had the experience of signing many of my Maggie Made Cards for co-workers.

This was a few years prior to joining Stampin' Up!  Today, I don't believe I missed my calling… I made handmade cards as a child with my construction paper and crayons.  At 11 years old I made a bunch of Valentine's Day cards and would stand at the exit of the supermarket with my friend Anita as my mom shopped for groceries.

I was an amateur and people bought them because they saw my sweet face with big dimples… LoL.  The going rate for a card back in 1979 was a whole quarter!  Wow… was I excited.  I remember saving the quarters to buy the mega box of crayons, so I can make more cards with a variety of colors.

This card reminds me of those days… I went from black & white to color in 2011 when I joined Stampin' Up!  Now, I don't really sell the cards, I mostly give them away and it brings so much joy & happiness to me.  What do I sell now?  The supplies to help you make those cards… I want you to bring joy & happiness to those you care about… with a very simple handmade card.  Will you go for it and start your Stampin' Up! membership?

Thank you so much for visiting me today.  It's the beginning of an AWESOME week.  Fifty-two days and a wake up!

Maggie

Thank You for the Tea Party

Thank You1

If anyone has noticed, I have pretty much used all but one of the stamps from Tea Party stamp set this week.  Why is that?  Because I want to show you that when you decide to buy a stamp set, you should buy it for its versatility.

When you are choosing which stamp sets appeal to you, always look at how many stamps come with the set.  This way you know you can make up to 4 or 5 cards out of one set.  It's a great way to maximize your hard earned dollar!

If you don't have a catalog and you do not have a current demonstrator, I am more than happy to send you one for free.  Simply fill out a form here.

I chose the Real Red ink and Red Glimmer Paper because it made the vanilla and black colors of the Modern Melody designer series paper card pop with a little bit of color as suggested by a couple of my blog readers. =)

You are the reason I continue this blog.  It's already Friday night here and I'm just now catching up on today's post.  It was a very busy day today and I'm feeling a little tired.  One more day of work and I get Sunday off.

I'll be taking my Physical Fitness Test in two weeks and as always, I'm nervous.  I usually score in the high 90's, but it's been my goal to score 100%, which seems almost impossible (I M Possible… LoL)… but I have to run in 11:22 min to make it happen.  Like my momma tells me… "we shall see said a blind man." =)

As mentioned before, I'm running the Deployed Air Force Marathon 10K.  I refuse to do the full marathon or even the half.  It's against my beliefs… LoL. Humans were NOT born to run more than 6.2 miles at a time.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  I figure I'd train for both and kill two birds with one stone… not literally… I love birds.  Who came up with that saying anyway!? LoL

Just because you are reading this… you get Stampin' Up!'s Old School September Wallpaper for FREE…… after you click HERE select ADD TO BAG and CHECK OUT.  It's that easy!

Again, happy Friday to you… have a safe and wonderful weekend.  Thank you so much for visiting.

Another Tea Party

Tea Party1

If you haven't noticed I am having a tea of a time here.  I don't feel like I've been here a whole four months… maybe because I have always looked at time as an enemy.  Enemy?  Time?  My card-making days have always been numbered.

I have to ship my stamping supplies home at least two weeks before heading out, so I can have them waiting for me upon my return.  I have seven weeks left and I'm having withdraw because I am left with about four weeks to stamp!  Oh dear.

Yikes!  I better get to stampin…….

Mojo309SketchMojo Monday #309 is the sketch of the day for me.  I always welcome a challenge and you should too. =)

Tea Party2

I originally purchased the Tea Party stamp set only because it reminded me of an antique store.  I love going to antique stores and own several pieces, but I love the museum feeling I get when I see old furniture, clothes, and jewelry.

At the local bazaar there is a vendor who sells the prettiest tea sets I've ever seen.  I finally broke down last week and bought one.  I'm not one to use a tea set, but it sure does look pretty.

I would love to give one away as blog candy, but not sure if I'd generate any takers.  If this is something you'd be interested in leave a comment below.  If there is enough interest… I just might give one away.

Who can actually say they own a six cup tea set from Kyrgyzstan?

Tea 1-3 Tea 1-4 Tea 2-2

The tea sets are available in a variety of colors, but I picked this one because it reminded me of our Flower Shop stamp set and the Pansy Paper Punch.

My Cup of Tea

Tea

I love black and white!  It takes me back to a time when people actually took the time to relax.  I don't know why, but who remembers the time before smart phones and social media?  Who now a days sits down and has a cup of tea?

Even if you go to Starbucks, you will see people in groups or by themselves and the first thing you notice are the cell phones… looking up email, checking in on Facebook, or taking selfies… LoL.

I know all of this has nothing to do with the stamp set, but it's just what it makes me think.  Are there any rubber stamps that lead you to think something that has nothing to do with the image?

Tea

I'm an old-fashioned kind of girl and the Tea Party stamp set is perfect for letting someone know you care about them.  It's perfect for your significant other, or a friend.

The Leaves of a Tree

Tree Leaves

I've been memorized by the coloring ability of a crafter who was a technical architect prior to becoming a full-time stamper… Darlene DeVries.  She uses a variety of tools to include markers, inks, and other tools to teach others how to color.  I've been hooked on her skill and this is my first attempt at color leaves… LoL.

It's obvious I must keep practicing, but watch out now because here I come… LoL.  I have in my head the saying, "birds of a feather stick together" and I don't know why, but I want to say, "leaves of a tree roam free."  I have no idea why I keep thinking that. LoL.

Maybe because I love the Little Leaves Sizzlits and the many ways it can be trimmed to do what we want it to.  My next try was going be balloons, but I don't have any balloon stamps with me… I'll have tow wait to get home.

One of Five Birthday Cards

Celebrate

Hello everyone, first I want to say Thank You for visiting me today.  For many of you, this is a four day weekend and for others (like me), we don't get any extra days off, but it is the start of a sweet weekend… Labor Day!

A day dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.  Many of us celebrate it with BBQ's, camping trips, and just a nice get together with friends and family on the extra day off that we celebrate.

This stamp knocks out two birds with one stone… somebody's birthday and Labor Day! Yayyyy!  If you're birthday falls in September… this card may be coming to your mailbox real soon… LoL.

FMS Final 101-001

This sketch was used to make my dual celebratory card and I think it's uniquely simple and it works when making a quick and easy card for any occasion.  Freshly Made Sketches designers always give us a perfect sketch for beginner stampers as well as advanced one's… it's fun waiting in anticipation if your card was a selected winner.

Celebrate

Just thought I'd ask… the little animal on the stamp, what is it?  I can't tell if it's a lizard, a porcupine, a possum, an iguana, or a dinosaur… what does it look like to you?  LoL.

Owl Wish Big Today

Wish Big

I was amazed that I could not recall ever making a card for a little girl's birthday!  I've always made them for boys… LoL.  Then again, males seem to be very popular in my family.  I am one of six kids, with five being boys… and we went on to give my parents seven grandsons with one granddaughter.  Go figure… LoL.

So, this one was definitely a challenge.  It took me two days to put this quick and easy card together after my original thoughts went heywire.  I had envisioned a party hat with girly colors… needless to say, I couldn't get the design out of my head and on paper.

Wish Big

Then I realized, I could use a pair of owls from the Owl Punch and make the colors bold and girly… is that possible?  It sure is!  I once had a co-worker who crossed into the Circle of Pals tell me that green goes with everything… her words still hold true… LoL.  The googly eyes add dimension and character to the sweet pals.

Wish Big

The Wish Big sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts stamp set completed with the card into a perfection.  =)  I wasn't so disappointed that my party hat idea didn't pan out.

Just For You

Just for You

There are times when I try to get a vision for a card that I found in a sketch challenge and I still have creativity block… similar to writer's block and I become frustrated.  This was one of those cards… LoL.

Mojo308SketchI wanted to put together a card to send off to a friend, but I was completely at a stand still for a layout.  So, I set out to find a sketch challenge that I thought wouldn't take a hours to put together.  I found it in Monday Mojo 308's challenge.

Just for You

I chose a color I don't use often just because I wanted a challenge.  Boy did I meet that challenge face to face!  Although it didn't take me hours to put together… the colors itself stumped me.  I hit a bump in the road and I was left wondering if the recipient would like it.  I guess I'll have to let you know once my friend receives it. =)

Joey’s Birthday Face

Happy smiles for Joey's birthday!  I have a wonderful sweet nephew who is the youngest of the clan and he had a birthday a week ago.  Unfortunately, I was not able to be at his birthday party.

However, I made him a one of kind Maggie Made Original birthday card.  How could any child not be happy when they open this and the eyeglass wearing smiling card face is wishing them a Happy Birthday!?

I was a bad auntie and didn't plan ahead, but I did arrange to have my son take him to Toy's R Us and let him pick out any toy that he wanted, but did not get at his birthday party.

I'm sure that gift will have earned me some major brownie points in the eyes of six year old. =)

Happy Face

I have an announcement to make:  I'm not one of those that announces on my personal Facebook page how often I'm at the gym or how far I ran in a certain amount of minutes… but I must announce that I have signed up to run a 10K for the Deployed Air Force Marathon.

I'm nervous, I'm scared, I'm afraid, I'm everything you can imagine.  Why?  I run 5K's often, but never a 10K.  I'm a firm believer that the human body was not created to run more than 6 miles on any given time… LoL.

I have "Runner's Knee" and I'm praying it doesn't go out on me… although I will have it taped… last thing I need (at my age) is mess up my knee.  Regardless, I'll be out there running on September 21st.  Any advice from runner's out there… please leave me a comment.

Marco Polo 1

For two reasons I had so much fun creating this card.  Reason #1:  I used a sketched that I had originally thought I wouldn't have time to create… boy was I wrong.  Reason #2:  The inspiration came from an ad in a magazine.

Resident Artist and talented designer, Nicole Watt, designed a wonderful sketch for the Pals Paper Arts this week!  The two crossed panels lead was the idea for the card I created.

Here is the ad that inspired the color and the stamp choice.  Polo always reminds me of Royal Families all over the world (i.e. Prince Charles)… the crest in Lovely Romance stamp set is bold, classy, and full of character.  That is why it reminds me of Royalty.  What do you think?
