Stamp Ink Paper: A Sketch

Today’s card is special not because it’s a sketch for the Stamp Ink Paper card challenge, but because it was a special order for an old friend I was once deployed with.  He saw a set of custom coffee mugs I made for my brother and his bride for their one year anniversary and asked if I could make a set of mugs for his brother and sister-in-law.

These are the coffee mugs my friend ordered.

These are the one’s I made for my brother’s one year anniversary.

Wow! I was very happy when I found out this week’s challenge was a sketch.  I really miss sketches a whole lot.  What kind of challenges do you prefer?  Sketch or Images as inspiration?  Join us this week at the Stamp Ink Paper challenge.

The Details:

  • Cut, Stamp, Punch:  It’s one of the quick methods to quickly make a card.
  • Less is more.  Seriously, I don’t know where to begin to describe how easy it is to make your own handmade card.
  • Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I used a retired piece of DSP as the background, but you can use our new designs or some of your own.
  • Heart Punch!  If you didn’t get the heart punch when it retired, don’t worry, you can use one of the smaller hearts from the Sweet & Sassy framelits dies.  If you want to add an embellishment put a rhinestone on the upper right side of the heart.

Stamp Ink Paper: A Wedding

What do you give a friend that is an artist and her groom is a painter….LOL?  Is it obvious!?  I collect little charms and make my own chains to boot!  I then the charms when making cards.  On this card I used two cute little kissing love birds.  They are perfect for this wedding card because it has something old and something new and you can see what they are in The Details below.

If you need some inspiration for wedding cards then come on down to the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge and you’ll be sure to be inspired by our team designers.

The Details:

  • New Stamp Set.  The sentiment is embossed with white embossing power to make it standout on the dark wood paper.  Keep a look out for the Colorful Season Photopolymer stamp set (143726). You’re going to love it.
  • New Designer Series Paper.  It’s better than the previous wood textures they had last year.  Stampin’ Up! continues to one-up itself (LOL)…..so, keep an eye out for the Wood Textures Designer Series stack.
  • Spilled Paint.  I made the spilled paint spots with the soon to retire Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, so get it while you can still buy it on-line.  You’d be surprised how many people will want it after it’s no longer available. It happens with each catalog.
  • Love Birds Bracelet.  I collect charms from all over the place and also buy them on-line.  I use them to make gifts and put on cards (obviously).  These are two love birds because it’s a wedding card.

A Cute Mother’s Day Flower Vase

Happy Mother's Day Frame

This card was initially created for the Can You Case It sketch challenge from yesterday, but as I worked on it, it morphed into this and I couldn’t be happier with it.  As a matter of fact, I loved making the frame so much with the Chalk Lines photopolymer stamp set that I made several frames with different colors, sizes, and shapes.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS: Not in cash, but great crafting recommendations.

  • Experiment with your product.  You just never know what you’ll come up with.  This card started off as a sketch challenge card and it quickly morphed into a Mother’s Day Vase card. I experimented with several stamp sets and stamped over 15 times until the lightbulb came on. I began cutting paper to make the perfect 45 degree angles on the frame, but it turned out I could stamp a frame just as good, but easier with two strips of sticky notes. HA! Who would’ve thought to do that…it was just too easy.
  • Single vase.  To single out the vase with the tulip I used Tempting Turquiose, Real Red, and Old Olive to color in just that one vase. I huffed on it to moisten the ink with my peppermint breath and stamped it…that easy.  *Peppermint not required, but your stamp will love it.
  • Show Me How Video.  I’m working on the video now to show you how simple it was to show you how I made the frame. So come on by tomorrow to see how you too can make the photo-frame too.

New Catalog Coming:  Anyone who has ordered from me in the last year will automatically receive the fun packed new catalog. I’ve already seen it and my list already has 75 stamp sets on it.  This year I’ll have to pace myself (LOL).

  • Both get a Starter Kit with their choice of product for just $99, but choose $125 in product, to include not yet publicly released items.
  • Both have no obligation to stay active – sign up for pleasure and keep having fun or make it a business. Whether you take it or leave it…keep your goodies with a discount and get the heck out of dodge!

Square Peg in a Round Hole

I Like You

Have you ever heard the express, a square peg in a round hole?  Well, I’m one of those square pegs… LOL.  To some I’m strange, to others I’m funny, but to many more I’m just crazy… crazy about paper that is!

Sometimes paper crafters are afraid to try something new or break out with color.  We are so hard on ourselves and I’m here to tell you… just do it!  Do something cccccrazy… like take shapes that don’t ‘technically’ match each other.  You will be amazed at the results.

I Like You

Lesson Learned: When you need to cover up something you think is a mistake, smudged ink, coffee stains (from drinking coffee while you’re stamping, etc), you can always dress it up… LOL.  I’ll never tell what’s under that Ruffle Stretch Trim.

Just when you thought squares and circles aren’t a match here she comes with some ruffles to balance everything out don’t ya think?  Leave me a comment if you’ve ever made a card or paper craft with odd shapes and/or sizes.
