Does Your Heart Live Happy?

Valentine's Day

In my quest to use happy colors I think I found a great combination with this card.  The colors pop anyway you look at it and you can't help but be happy.

But, now that Christmas is over…  I'm really getting into Valentine's Day and preparing for my shoebox get together and card classes before Valentine's Day!  I'm so excited I can't wait to get started.

Sketch Challenge, Valentine's Day

Sketch card brought to you by Mojo #325

Valentine's Day

The Red Glitter paper  adds a little pop to the real red sentiment on the whisper white card stock.  Actually, I think the entire heart pops in front of the Coastal Cabana card stock and Fresh Prints designer series paper stack*.  *Will debut in Occasions Catalog (Jan. 3, 2014).

This Valentine card is dedicated to you, the Pretty Pals faithful blog hoppers who stop by every month and leave us lovely sweet comments on projects we create to inspire and share with you.

The supplies I used are my favorite for the month of February.  I have way too many favorite items, so many that I go by the month… LoL.  The heart was very simple to do using the largest heart from the Hearts Collection and it was just as easy to run Typeset Alphabet through the Big Shot.  I added two silver red hearts by punching them out from the Owl Punch.

I used the following products to make this sweet real red Valentine heart:

I Wood Like to Tell You Something

I wood like to tell you something… “I LOVE YOU!”  I might as well make as many Valentine cards as I possibly can to inspire you to make some yourself.  Believe me when I tell you that when you wake up tomorrow… it will be Valentine’s Day and you will be stopping at the gas station on the way home because you had no idea what to make.  Trust me, you do NOT need to be crafty or artistic to make this cute wood card.  In the next couple weeks I will be putting together a series for those who say, “I am not crafty at all!”

I quickly threw this card together by taking a 4″ x 5-1/4″ inch soft suede card stock and ran it through my Big Shot in the Woodgrain embossing folder.  I sliced an 1/2″ x 8″ ince Melon Mambo scrap I had laying around and curled the edges with my piercing tool and put some Tombow glue on the edges to keep it glued down.  Tombow works wonders!  Another two scrap pieces of Very Vanilla and three tiny button brads from the Vintage Trinkets collection finished it off.

Now, if you’d rather make digital cards… you have to check these out, they are simply A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E!  Besides, in some of areas of the U.S. it’s freezing outside, so how about we daydream about love and spring?  (And if it’s not freezing where you are, then consider yourself lucky!)  Don’t miss our Officially Awesome Valentines Designer Template with its tiny, trendy valentines that fit in tiny, trendy envelopes.  Click HERE to view the new digital arrivals.  While you’re at it go ahead and click HERE to get a 30-day FREE trail of My Digital Studio.

Pals Spring Catalog Favorites Blog Hop: Hearts A Flutter

Thank you for joining us for the first Pals Blog Hop of 2013!  Today the Stampin’ Pretty Pals are excited to introduce you to new Stampin’ Up! products that are available in the Spring Catalog.  We hope you find inspiration and ideas for using the new stamps, papers and accessories.

You should have just left stop number14 on the Pals Hop – Claire Crotteau-Hutt at Stamp Paper Scissors.  If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

There are many items I fell in love with in the Spring Catalog, but will show you the three items that ranked at the top.  The first is the Tea Lace Paper Doilies because they come pre-cut and ready to stamp on, glue on, or color in.  They are so delicate and dainty they remind me of the doilies my grandmom (Mi Nena) used to crochet.

My mom has also made many doilies for me and they look so close to the Tea Lace.  She makes me different colors to match my furniture and they will certainly become heirlooms that I will pass down to my son.  Well, maybe his wife… or daughters… LoL.

My second favorite item is the Hearts a Flutter stamp set, which you can purchase with a framelits die as a bundle.  I punched out a tiny red heart from the Two Step Owl and it’s oh so heavenly perfect for my Valentine. =)

Although my love for clean & simple cards is natural for me, I couldn’t resist my third favorite item… the silky smooth two-tone 1-1/4″ ribbon.  You gotta feel it with your fingers to appreciate the softness in the material.

Stamp Set:  Hearts a Flutter (C129252)
Embossing Folder:  Adorning Accents (125601)
Paper: Basic Gray  (121044), Very Vanilla (101650), Whisper White (100730)

Framelits Dies:  Hearts A Fluttere (130159) Bundled with Stamp Set (C131097)
Ink: Basic Gray (126981)
Ribbon: 1-1/4″ Basic Gray/Basic Black Two-Tone
Paper Doilies:  Tea Lace (129399)
Paper Punch:  Two Step Owl (118074)

The next stop is Angela Curry at Kindred Stampers, stop number 16 on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting – and I hope to see you next month!

Stampin’ Up! My Valentine Treats

I received a call about what the Valentine Bundles.  The caller wanted to know what the bundles were all about.  Well, here is just one possibility.  These will go to my family & friends next month for Valentine’s Day and I’m pretty sure at first sight they may not want to eat the Hershey’s Nuggets wrapped up in the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper.  The envelope was made out of the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper.

I used the Happy Valentine ‘s Day stamp from the treat giving bundle to make the 3×3 card that will go with each Hershey’s Nugget.  Don’t forget this stamp comes as a single stamp and comes with the 1inch cellophane treat bags, which can be used to fill with a magical sweet treat.  I will have a sample for you tomorrow.

To wrap the sweet treat simply cut your paper 1″ x 3″ and use double sided tape to seal the deal.  I used each stamp from My Little Valentine (C132242) in Real Red ink and punched three of them with the small oval punch (120908).  I hand cut the Be My Valentine stamp.

Click HERE to view the Be My Little Valentine with a Valentine Treat Bundle post to learn more about these bundles that you will pay only $15.90 plus tax & shipping!  Now that is a STEAL!!!

PLEASE LEAVE ME A COMMENT:  Let me know what kind of things are you planning for your family, friends, or children’s treats you will be preparing for Valentine’s Day.  I love your comments and I look forward to finding comments on my posts.  Your thoughts are very much appreciated.

Pals February 2012 Blog Hop

It’s the occasion of the year as the Stampin’ Pretty Pals share some fabulous cards and projects featuring Stampin’ Up!’s Occasion Mini and Sale-A-Bration products on today’s Pals Blog Hop!

You’ve probably hopped over from Jennifer Takacs at My Stampin’ Blog, I’m stop number 14 on the Pals Hop and I’m glad you hopped in!  I’ll help you “hop along” from blog to blog where you’ll find great ideas for paper projects showcasing Stampin’ Up!’s Occasion Mini and Sale-A-Bration products from the Stampin’ Pretty Pals!  Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the Pals Hop Line-up below and you’ll be back on track.

This is my one of a kind non-traditional Valentine’s Day Card.  It is the first time I’ve used the Labels Collection framelits and I absolutely love them!  You will definitely see more cards made with these in the very near future.  The stamps are from two separate sets both available now in the Sale-a-Bration catalog.  I love how Stampin’ Up! incorporated the bright bold colors of orange, baby blue, and red on one sheet of paper.  It opens up so many possibilities and allows individual creativity to shine through.

A quick hint to add a bit of dimension to any of your cards are to use Stampin’ Dimensionals to give your card a bit of a 3D effect.  I used them on the Everyday Enchantment DSP to add a slight raise to the Love stamped inside the framelit.  The gentle subtle pop of the paper allows the eyes to focus on the message of LOVE and doesn’t look flat against the Bashful Blue paper.

Please leave a comment when you get to stop #25 and give a shout out to the beautifully talented Pretty Pal, Nicole Watt at Impressions by Nicole for creating our blog hop badge and buttons!  She designed them using the Everyday Enchantments DSP from the SAB One Big Sale-A-Bration CD (127220).  If you haven’t done so already, make sure to download a free 30-day trial of My Digital Studio!

Sending Some Stampin’ Up! Love

Love is heard, seen, and felt. It is heard when kind words are spoken to complete strangers. A simple compliment or a hello will make a good day better.  Kind words of encouragement, a compliment, or a simple wave of the hand shows love for human kind.  It is seen with a hug, a blowing of a kiss, a pat on head, or a gesture of a thumbs up. Everyday we should strive to brighten someone’s day, even a stranger, your children, an aging parent, your spouse, or your co-workers.  It’s nice to hear the words, “Love You”, but a word said with love goes further than you think.  So, today and everyday, go ahead, give a stranger a thumbs up or a compliment (nice shoes, pretty dress, or your hair looks great!”).  Leave a comment and send some love my way… =)

If you haven’t downloaded the FREE 30-day trial of My Digital Studio… do it now! It’s absolutely FREE and you can play with it for 30 days. PPA 128 Color Challenge with a Kiss

Words of wisdom to the novice stamper… join in on the fun with a challenge… PAPER PALS ARTS is perfect!  It will not only motivate your creative side, it will make you think outside the box, and increase traffic to your blog (if you have one).  I’m a hobby stamper, but with my type A personality, I want to get better and better.  What better way than to participate in card color challenges.  This challenge was actually hard for me, but I got it done during my lunch break from work… =)

A co-worker mentioned to me, “I need to buy a card off of you for Valentine’s Day.”  I had to remind him that I don’t sell cards, I give them away.  So, Chuckie, if your reading this, leave a comment and it’s yours.

{LOVE}

[pinit]This card actually started out as a heart shaped card using my Big Shot Framelits Hearts Collection…. but I messed it up and cut too much off the top, so I got two heart scallops instead of one.  I’m not one to throw things out and start all over again, so I made use of  a mistake and instead made a prettier card than what I thought I was going to make.  After I put the sentiment and hearts together, it still looked plain, so I daubed a bit of Real Red Ink while holding a heart pattern.  The tiny flowers from the Itty Bitty Punch shapes and the square lattice embossing added the extra dimension I was looking for.

I daubed the second heart and aligned it on the inside for a personal Valentine note.  I almost don’t want to give it away, but if I don’t it will collect dust on my bookshelf instead of bringing a little bit of sunshine into somebody’s day.  Thank goodness for card challenges, without the Paper Pals Arts challenge, I would have never made a mistake that made the card even more beautiful… =)

GOT A HOBBY?:  Stampin’ Up! is offering a fabulous opportunity to join my team!  =)
