Way Back Wednesday with the Puppies

Puppies Dogs

I’ve decided to call today “Way Back Wednesday”. Why? Because I used a set of stamps I borrowed from a friend that are from Way Back and it just happens to be Wednesday (LOL).  Throwback Thursday is tomorrow and since it’ll be Pals Paper Arts challenge day, I just didn’t want to wait two days to show these cute little puppies to you.  I mean, I finally got a little break from my custom made orders that I figured I better get back on track.

324.1

These cards aren’t to make some of you that wish you owned this set jealous.  It’s just to show you the cards I made for a craft fair/fundraiser that took place last Saturday at the local SPCA.  I fussy cut the fire-hydrant above and the sleep pup with dog house below to give them both a little bit of 3-D feel to them.

325.1

I didn’t just make these three designs, I included a few “I’m sorry for your loss” cards for those that have lost their family pet.  Those sold out pretty quickly.  Yesterday, I was a little surprised to open my email and find an invitation to the City of Vacaville’s Pooch Parade & Howl-O-Ween event on October 31st.

October On-Line Orders.  Receive one sheet of each design (total of three) of the Holiday’s Fancy Foil Designer Vellum when you place an on-line order this month.  Simply place an order via my on-line store and use Host Code: E3X9E4SK

Please do not select “No Contact” when placing your order.  Why?  Because if you do, I will not be allowed to contact you, even if you are a regular customer….and I will NOT be able to send you my FREE on-line order offers either.  Just make sure you select “YES, allow my demonstrator to contact me with order updates and other important information.”  Please know that I will never send you junk mail.

You Are More Than Welcome to Try Us Out.  My group is mostly all hobby demo’s who join for the discount on paper-crafting supplies don’t want the commitment of holding classes or being a salesperson (yuck right)!?   I welcome these types of demo’s with Arms Wide Open, so don’t fear a committment or a penalty if you sign up for the discount.  Heck, you can even team up with a friend because my team is a non-hassle, non-committment, no sales requirement team.  What does that mean?  Read it  here.

Encouragement

Did you see my post last Thursday?  I made this exact card in a completely different color with embossing and I wrote about how it was beautifully ugly…LOL.  It was so ugly that I loved it!  If you missed it and are curious as to what it looked like click here.

Blog Candy:  Remember there is blog candy to be given and you can enter to win it by taking a second look at the last week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper post here.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Darker Shade Frame.  My goal was to bring the eyes back to the center of the card to highlight the flower and not necessarily the stamped background.  To accomplish that, I used a thin matting of Melon Mambo between Whisper White to give it a framed outline.  I think it worked.

June On-Line Orders.  Receive a sample (one of each) Expressions Natural Elements when you place an order via my on-line store and use Host Code: 7XAYE9K4

No Contact – What it really means.  When you select “No Contact” when you place your on-line order it literally means, “Don’t tell Maggie I placed an order.”  I will not be told who  you are and can’t send you the free product samples.  I would love for you to instead check-mark, “YES, allow my demonstrator to contact me with order updates and other important information.”  Please know that I will never send you junk mail. I want to show you how much I truly appreciate your business.

My Money-Back Guarantee.  I welcome Hobby stampers who want to simply receive some great quality product at a discount or just want to take advantage of this month’s FREE stamp offer!  Click here to read the details.Blog Signature

You’re the Best Pals Paper Arts #254

Thank You

I thought I had a style for card-making, but today I realize I don’t!  HA!  I march to the beat of my own drum and I love it.  Like everything else, there are trends in what we do, but guess what!?  I don’t follow the crowds.  Is it a bad thing?  I dunno.  What I do know is that I do what I love and I love what I do.  So much so that there aren’t enough hours in the day to do it in.  What do you love to do?

PPA 254

Today card is an inspiration from the weekly Pals Paper Arts Challenge #254.  Not only am I a participant, but I’m a team member and it’s one of the best projects I look love to participate in.  What about you?

Thank You

I took a simple approach to this card by adding a matt to the Cherry on Top Desires Series Paperstack.  What can I say, I’m easy…LoL.

Thank You

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Add Candy Dots:  Candy dots is the cure-all for plain.  Once you’ve completed your masterpiece and you squint your eyes because it just doesn’t “feel” complete…break out with the candy dots!  They add that little umpth to any card to make it stand out just enough to make you happy.  How do you use candy dots?
  • Make an Envelope:  Not sure how to use a little extra paper?  Match the card colors to the envelope flap.  It’ll add a little sparkle and believe it or not when it’s received in the mail that little bit of color actually brightens the receiver’s day!  Well, I just made that up, but I know for a fact there are studies out there about colors and the influence they have on the human mood.

JUNE ON-LINE ORDERS: Receive a sample (one of each) Expressions Natural Elements when you place an order via my on-line store and use Host Code: 7XAYE9K4

NO CONTACT – What it really means.  When you select “No Contact” when you place your on-line order with me it literally means, “Don’t tell Maggie I placed an order.”  This is a bummer for me because I can’t show you my gratitude for your order or send you product samples because I have no idea who you are.  When placing your order will you (pretty please) check the box that says, “YES, allow my demonstrator to contact me with order updates and other important information.”  Please know that I will never send you junk mail. Please send me a note if you have any questions.  I truly appreciate your business no matter how big or small it is very much appreciated.

Retired Product Community.  Are you looking for a retired stamp set and haven’t had luck finding it?  Maybe you can find what you’re looking for in a Facebook group I created just for this purpose.

You Make Me Smile With PPA 253

Smile1

Today’s sketch is brought to you by none other than the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #253.  Whew, this challenge was a definite challenge!  But I smiled through it all because without Stampin’ Up! I’d have to see a therapist and I wouldn’t be able to afford my hobby….LoL.  Funny, but not funny. HA!

PPA 253

Now, go on and check out what the rest of the designers came up with.  This challenge I’m dying to see.  Thank you Nicole Watt for keeping my creative side flowing.  These last couple challenges have been a challenge in say the least, but I LOVE EVERY ONE OF THEM!  If they weren’t challenging well, they wouldn’t be called a challenge right!

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • The use of a sketch.  Whew!  Now this sketch was a challenge as previously mentioned.  But NEVER be discouraged when you are stumped.  Use it to your advantage to think outside the box!  Instead of cutting the Back to Black DSP the shape of the challenge shape, I use my Stampin’ Trimmer to create a cut out of the shape instead.  Isn’t that cleaver!?  😉
  • Contrasting texture.  I added a tiny bit of contrasting texture to my card by embossing the Real Red card-stock with the Chevron Embossing folder.  I didn’t want the pop of color to look plain.  Plus, it adds a mild 2-D effect to the designs in the DSP.
  • Where the sequin fall.  What do I mean by that?  When I add sequin to my master-pieces (that’s what they are…lol) I let the sequin fall from about 5 inches.  It’s easy to do too…hold a few in your hand above the card and let them go as if you’re putting sprinkles on a cake.

Occasions Catalog Ends This Weekend:  Don’t let yourself regret why you didn’t get an item you really wanted.  Then depending on how bad you want it…you’re gonna pay a little more and I know eBay prices are NOT what you want to pay.  I highly recommend that you take one last look at the 2015 Occasions Catalog and order what you really desire.  The majority of it is on sale anyway.

Creative Thinking (at noon today). The other night I thought and thought and then it came to me…how to pretty much earn a FREE membership. Join me for a 15 minute webinar to find out how to take Stampin’ Up! out for a test drive for free or just a couple of dollars.  This is only for non-demonstrators who do not have a Demonstrator and desire to join my Circle of Pals team. If you meet those two prerequisites, please sign up here.

NO CONTACT – What it means.

Meet the Adorable Sweet Ivy

Ivy1

Isn’t this card just straight up gorgeous!? If I told you a friend gave it to me who is a beginner card-maker? She got hooked on making cards after she attended a work shop and she hasn’t stopped creating ever since. I named this precious cutie Ivy. Why because It’s Nicole’s last name and it fits he sweet face.

Ivy2

The image is a digi-image she found and simply used our Many Marvelous Markers to color her in. It’s as if Nicole went from beginner to a professional with just the markers. Amazing detail with her  coloring. Nicole is living proof that YOU can do it too!

MAGGIE MADE TIPS: Not in cash, but great crafting recommendations.

  • Just start somewhere. Many people say, “I’ll start stamping/coloring after I practice some more.” Yet they never start and regret it later.  If we always wait to be perfect guess what…we are never going to get it off the ground. The Many Marvelous Markers are a perfect start to great coloring fun. That’s what Nicole did and just look at what she accomplished and I got to keep it as a gift for getting her started.
  • For beginners Google “free dig stamps” and print your favorite choice on Whisper White card stock then just practice, practice, practice! You’ll improve your coloring skills and you won’t want to stop.

A SWEET DEAL.  There’s a really awesome raffle going on and there are only 20 numbers remaining. There’ll be SIX winners who will win a combined total of over $200 in prizes. But that’s not all, EVERYONE will be a winner! Those numbers that are not chosen as prize winners will get $5 off an order of $25 or more during the month of May. Bought two tickets? Get $10 off a $50 order and so on. Make sense? Get your number today and know that the odds are the greatest for everyone.

Thank you my friends for stopping by today. It would be so awesome to show y friend Nicole some love. Won’t you please leave her a comment on her card? It’s simply adorable. Have yourself a beautiful day.

Pumpkin Anyone?

This month’s My Paper Pumpkin was amazing! I’ve taught two free card classes with them and they are a hit. At first I thought that the kits would be great for beginners who want to experiment with the kit, but I quickly realized that the kits are great for the advanced card maker also. I love them because I can put them together with ease and I send them to my customers as well as give them to family & friends. I can give so many of them away because I order three kits a month. That’s how crazy I am about them.

I couldn’t believe that this kit also came with tiny cards that can also be used with gift cards too. They are so darn cute! Click here to learn more about My Paper Pumpkin.

For A True Friend

A True Friend Did your momma ever tell you, “you can count true friends on one hand.”  When I was a kid, I didn’t know what that meant because I had more friends that I could hold with one hand! HAHAHA Like everything, in time, that expression became more clear to me. So if that’s the case, you will recreate this card in no time for only one handful of true friends.  It was seriously so easy to do too.

I stamped the frame and cut it out by hand. I then stamped the image on my card and covered it with the cutout so that when I stamped the swirls it didn’t stamp the frame.  Was that easy? I’ve attached a FREE masking guide HERE.

FriendshipThe listed the products I used below and I’ve also listed both the stamp set in wood and cling clear mount along with the digital download of the stamp set just in case you are a digital designer. You can also try My Digital Studio (Stampin’ Up!’s digital software) for 30 days for FREE.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a fantabulous weekend!

More Hugs

Maria

You can NOT deny that this is just the cutest card ever! I couldn’t help but feel so loved by my Pals when I opened this card.

My sweet Circle of Pals Maria R. one of my down-line sent this sweet thing wishing me well wishes. Maria is a hobby demonstrator who joined Stampin’ Up! just for the discount.  Anyone can join for any reason for as long as they want, no questions asked and you can learn more about it here.

Just Because

This second card was sent by one of my favorite Pretty Pals, Frances.  I say one of my favorite Pals because honestly I’ve lost count of how many I really have.  There are over 300+ plus of us and after a while it’s hard to keep track… LOL.

What I can tell you is that the friendships I have made are out of this world. Pals live all over the United States and we communicate virtually through email, a private Facebook page, and webinars.

Anyone can become a Pal and you can find out pretty much anything about us right here.

You Are My Sunshine

It’s been a week since I posted a card, but for good reason… I had abdominal surgery.  My entire body is finally 100% awake… for those of you have had ANY type of surgery, you know what I’m talking about.

Not only are you put to sleep, but every cell in your body (to include your internal organs) also go to sleep.  Abdominal surgery, however, is a little different.  As everything in your body begins to awaken, pain is one of them.  LOL

I thought I’d be able to post while laying in the bed, but nope… usually I just drifted off to sleep.  So, I’ll hurry and tell you about this card before I get tired again and take a nap.  This post alone has taken me several days to put together…LOL.

Sunshine

My card today was made with the  Ray of Sunshine stamp set and I think it’s just so cute.  As I sat to prepare this card for this post I could hear the Beatles in the background singing…Here Comes the Sun…and I say it’s alright.

How did I make the sun rays?  I stamped the rays and then snipped each one individually and adhered them straight on the DSP, but adhered the sun with Stampin’ Dimensionals for an a raised look.

To clear any confusion, I made this card and a few others way before my surgery.  I knew I wouldn’t be able to sit in a chair for quit a while.  See you back soon.

Before & After With A Twist

Love

I had a workshop recently and my goal is to ALWAYS teach the art of simple card-making.  I enjoy creating simple handmade cards that anyone can put together… even you!

It’s a great card for beginners and a great start as you learn to add embellishments to make it a little bit of you.  We all need to start somewhere right?  So, once I had a little bit of time, I added a little bit more of me.

Love

I added gold sequence and it almost made me squeal…LOL.  No wait, I also used the other side of the DSP and instead of the circle punch I used the scallop.  I love how tiny simple little changes that don’t require much make such a huge impact one simple layout.
