Stamp Ink Paper: Graduation

I read a post the other day on a crafting Facebook page and it said that a lady asked if she could leave her crafting supplies at a demonstrator’s home.  The demonstrator thought it was a strange request, so she asked the lady, please tell my why you want to do that.  This was the lady’s response summarized because I can’t remember word-for-word, “I bought all the supplies for make cards I like, but it seems too many others make cards that are too much work and I just can’t make them.  Well, my friends, I took to heart what the lady said.  Why?  Because, like the lady, I don’t like making complicated cards either.  Hence, why my cards are so often simple and so easy to reproduce by anyone!  It’s all about cut, stamp, adhere and done!

If you don’t have a graduate to make and give this card to there are many more sentiments that can be used instead.  Maybe like Happy Birthday and instead of 2017, put the year of their birth…now that will go over well to anyone who is age conscious. LOL

Although this card was designed for the Stamp Ink Paper challenge, I was on a mini-vacay to Reno, Nevada and I completely got my dates all twisted by thinking Sunday was Saturday and Monday was Sunday, I missed the dead-line and missed out on posting my card.  However, I’m entering this card into the players pool knowing I can not win, but can show off my card.  So, play along side me this week at the Stamp Ink Paper Card Challenge

The Details:

  • Die-cut with Big Shot.  Our Large Letter Framelits will never go out of style for any occasion that revolves around numbers and you don’t even need electricity.  Run them through your Big Shot and boom! You’re all done!
  • Congratulations!  The sentiment used is from the Floral Phrases stamp set and I aligned it with my handy dandy Stamp-a-Ma-Jig thingy (LOL).  It’s perfect for making things straight!
  • Easy Stick Numbers:  Due to the thickness of the Gold Glimmer paper, I used the Multipurpose Adhesive sheets for the number to make ensure they adhered to the black cardstock.  It works like a charm.

Fellow consultant Brittany’s TRUE STORY made me giggle.
She washed her face (with R+F products of course) before dinner,
at the table her husband asked,  “Do you have makeup on right now?”
She said, “No, why?”  That’s when he said, “Wow, the products really do work!”
She said he hardly noticed when she got a short haircut and died it brown. 😂😂

Congratulations: Watercolored Rose

Congratulations

My mom called me the other day and asked if I would please make a card for her to give to my brother and his new bride.  I got right on it and did some water-coloring….did you see my post from a couple days ago? It’s water-coloring of the Cookie Cutter Halloween Stamp Set and lately it’s my go-to method for coloring in my stamped images.  I absolutely love it!

Congratulations

The Details:

  • No Need To Be Perfect.  That’s right!  Why worry about being perfect?  I used to worry about it and it never got me anywhere!  I was too intimidated to try because I thought it had to be perfect.  However, once I no longer feared perfectionism…I just can’t stop water-coloring. You should really give it a try if you are like I once was.
  • Easy Frame. Let me tell you how easy peasy this is to do.  After stamping and coloring in your image, use the  Layering Squares Framelits to cut out the center of the image.  Adhere the inside image flat on the card base and use Foam Adhesive Strips to give the outer layer and make the frame pop up.  It gives it a completely different look.  Go on and try it!

Stampin’ Up! is Happiness Always

Congratulations

Notice anything new?  Keep looking and I’ll tell you what it is down below.  Today’s card is my entry into Freshly Made Sketches #189 Card Sketch.  I haven’t entered there challenges in a while and I don’t have a good reason!  I simply got carried away with my retirement and all the planning up-coming changes.  Oh, I love change!

FMS Final 189-001

Congratulations

In my excitement to update my stamp sets in unison with the new catalog I left this set on the shelf by accident.  It wasn’t until after I sat down to blog that I noticed we don’t even carry it anymore.  So, you can buy it right now for $10 with FREE shipping.  I only have one set, so it’s first to click is first to buy.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Partial Stamping.  Did you know that when stamping an image you don’t have to stamp the entire image on the cardstock to show it’s beauty?  It’s okay to have partial stamping or to miss a tiny bit of it off the page even if you have a Type A personality.  I didn’t want to show the entire stem and the tiny line of missing pedal was done on purpose.  Why?  Because I only need the flower.  I wanted the Blossom to be the main focus.
  • Watermark On Your Photos:  This is the new thing I added…I changed the watermark on my photos.  I can’t stress it enough…when sharing your photos of your cards always watermark them.  Get credit for your gorgeous artwork!  They’re so easy to make too and here’s a link that will show you how to do them with PicMonkey (free internet software).

GET THE MOST PRODUCT FOR YOUR MONEY NOW!  Purchase the kit (plus include your two free stamp sets) and join thru me HERE.

Take Me Out To the Ball Game

Last weekend I was invited to participate in a local fundraiser in support of our local Little League Club.  I made a few baseball specific cards that I printed with My Digital Studio and have quite a few left over. Please feel free to browse through The Card Store to purchase.

Baseball Fear

To give the card a baseball look I used the Chevron punch and adhered the pieces in a half-moon to give it a rounded shape. I found the poem on Pinterest.

Thanks Coach

All of the coaches that take time to teach, mentor, and coach children deserve a huge “thank you.”  I played softball growing up and I remember all of us pulling our couple dollars each to buy our coach something nice to say thank you for putting with us.  Sports made me feel confident and I especially loved that my coach was also our mentor.

Congrats Homerun

In the mean time, sing along with me…”Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd;
Just buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack…”

MAGGIE MADE TIPS: Not in cash, but great crafting recommendations.

  • Always An Occasion To Make a Card.  There is nothing in the world that is too big nor too small that doesn’t deserve a card. Especially when a child needs added encouragement if (s)he struck out during a ballgame. Most important they should know that they should never give up.
  • Show Gratitude with A Thank You.  Everyone who is involved in teaching our children valuable skills should always be thanked.  It’s a kind gesture to say we appreciate them.

RETIRING PRODUCT:  Have you seen what happens on eBay when you missed what you would’ve purchased because you knew you really wanted it?  You’ll be shocked out of your mind!  Don’t believe me, just go check it out and then come back and get it before it’s too late. See it all here.

PREFERRED STATUS: This happens to every single person who purchases from me. They earn extra little treats and getting to buy my retired stash before I open it to the public for 50 percent off. Yes, that right…my current customers will get a chance of buying anything they missed if I have it in my stock. Learn more about the kudos of Shopping With Me.

Happy Retirement Major Gill

Retirement

Ever find yourself wanting to do more with your Stampin’ Up! stamps and ink? Well you can do so much more than you’ve ever imagined with My Digital Studio, but first let me tell you about my co-worker & friend Dave.

Dave is a fellow hospital administrator (like me) and he joined the Air Force December 1989 just five months shy after me.

Today we celebrate his retirement and I wanted him to have a card that is extremely personal. It doesn’t get any more personal than having your name printed on the front with the logo that represents 25 years of service to our country.

Dave knows I have a blog, but he doesn’t check it, so you know what’s the next best thing since sliced bread? For YOU to leave him a comment and thank him for his 25 years of honorable and dedicated service to our great country.

Now, on to how I made the card.

Retirement

I used My Digital Studio to print the words and then used my Cameo to cut out the Air Force Logo, which I downloaded from the internet. It made it easier to cut out the blue outline that overlapped the silver. I then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to give the AF logo a 3-D finish.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS: Not in cash, but great crafting recommendations

Stampin’ Up! Product Recipe:

Pumpkin Anyone?

This month’s My Paper Pumpkin was amazing! I’ve taught two free card classes with them and they are a hit. At first I thought that the kits would be great for beginners who want to experiment with the kit, but I quickly realized that the kits are great for the advanced card maker also. I love them because I can put them together with ease and I send them to my customers as well as give them to family & friends. I can give so many of them away because I order three kits a month. That’s how crazy I am about them.

I couldn’t believe that this kit also came with tiny cards that can also be used with gift cards too. They are so darn cute! Click here to learn more about My Paper Pumpkin.

A Baby Elephant

Congratulations

This card represented my mood over my three-day weekend.  It was full of happy moments followed by unexpected sadness.  News of a friend’s new baby on the way followed by the passing of a great man.

The baby elephant is the sign of good luck (so I’ve been told) for me it’s knowing that a friend has been blessed with new beginnings and a growing family.  The grass is the greener pastures that we are all bound to have with a positive attitude.

Yet, the half circle in the background represents the sun and the moon.  The transition of a life that was taken way too soon.   The moon is the passing on to another life with a departure of an awesome soul.  We are truly going to miss you Tim.  I promise to keep an eye on the Farmer’s wife.

Congratulations

Here’s a close up of the tiny baby elephant with a pink flower on its head.  We don’t know what the sex of the baby is but you instantly know what we are hoping for.  Yes, we will be prayerful for a healthy baby period… but there is nothing but boys in this family, so a baby girl, is slightly hoped for. =)

Finally, A Day About You!

After I made this card, I got around to thinking that it can be used for a variety of occasions.  A birthday, Mother’s & Father’s Day, Graduation, a little hokey for a wedding, but hey don’t judge… hahaha.  Any other’s you can think of?  I think it’s perfect for any occasion really!

I used my paper-piercing mat and tool to give the card a little subtle face lift… since I did not use the framelit that coordinates with the pattern.  But maybe you can try it and show it to me.  I’d love that!

Pals Blog Hop: Retirement Party!

Thank you for joining us for the May Pals Blog Hop and our annual retirement party! It’s time to say goodbye to stamps and accessories that will not be available in the new  2013-14 Stampin’ Up!catalog. Although it’s always sad to see wonderful products retire, it is exciting to think about all of the new products that will soon be available. So enjoy the farewell tour for our favorite retiring products – and remember you have until June 3rd to order from the retiring product lists.

You should have just left stop number 19 on the Pals Hop – Diane Roberts at Score at Four and a Quarter.  If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Just in case this is the first time you’ve visited me, I serve on active duty with the Air Force for the last 23 years.  I am Livin’ the Dream!  I look forward to the day that I can retire and commit  ALL my time making cards and working on my scrapbooks.

I am currently deployed and with each new post I talk about the deployment life from my perspective.  I pretty much work 12 or more hours a day, but the time for me is flying by… I don’t know if it’s because of all the hours I put in or because this time around (3rd deployment) I’m making cards and finding others here who enjoy doing it too! =)

This is the first card I make on this deployment.  One of our warehouse logistician’s became a first time uncle and greeting cards are a premium around here, so I used this opportunity to use one of my favorite retiring stamp sets, Moving Forward.

He will be sending this card off to the new parents and he is very excited to meet his nephew in five months and three weeks (but who’s counting)… LoL.

This stamp set is part of the Making a Difference program which Stampin’ Up! made exclusively for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).  You can read more about the program here or view the first time I used the set here.

The next stop is Katy McGloin at Just Fun Stamping, stop number 21 on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting – and I hope to see you next month!
