Watercolored Christmas with Pals Paper Arts

Christmas

Before I share my thoughts about this card I’m gonna say that I’m not the type of card-make that gets a “vision” sort-of-speak of the card I’m going to make, not even when it’s a card sketch. There’s no real science or college degree needed to make cards.  The only important this to have FUN!  That’s it folks.

Christmas

Although I feel more skilled than I was four years ago when I joined Stampin’ Up!, I feel I’m better now because like medicine, it’s a practice (lol), we’re all card-diologists.

ppa

My card was made specifically for the Pals Paper Arts Sketch 272.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Fringes.  I added the golden fringes to the bottom of the designer series paper to stick to the sketch of the challenge (see below).  I wasn’t sure how it would turnout, again, I don’t get visions in my head, I simply just tried it.  Had I not liked the way it looked, I probably would’ve just taken it off.
  • Vellum.  I wasn’t sure where to stamp the sentiment and thought it’d be a good idea to use vellum. Pow!  Loved it.  The 2013-15 In-Color sequence finished it all off.

15% Off Stamps.  Starting October 19, stamps will be discounted 15 percent off retail. This sale will only be around for a few days and ends on October 23, so don’t miss out! Check back on Monday for more information.

October On-Line Orders.  Receive Five Yards of Silver Cording Trim when you place an on-line order this month.  Simply place an order via my on-line store and use Host Code: E3X9E4SK

Please do not select “No Contact” when placing your order.  Why?  Because if you do, I will not be allowed to contact you, even if you are a regular customer….and I will NOT be able to send you my FREE on-line order offers either.  Just make sure you select “YES, allow my demonstrator to contact me with order updates and other important information.”  Please know that I will never send you junk mail.

Get to know my Circle of Pals.  My group is mostly all hobby demo’s who join for the discount on paper-crafting supplies don’t want the commitment of holding classes or being a salesperson (yuck right)!?   I welcome these types of demo’s with Arms Wide Open, so don’t fear a committment or a penalty if you sign up for the discount.  Heck, you can even team up with a friend because my team is a non-hassle, non-committment, no sales requirement team.  What does that mean?  Read it  here.

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #14

Christmas

There are two sayings I’ve heard through-out my lifetime…1) when it rains it pours, and 2) feast or famine.  This week, it’s both!  I often hear my mom say, “We must know sadness, so that we know what happiness feels like.”  As I wrote this post I said to my dear friend and downline, “Joy, I don’t know how I had time to hold a regular job.” LOL

With that said let’s get on with Christmas!  Yes, today’s card is a sketch from Stamp Ink Paper’s Challenge #14.  Now don’t let Christmas sneak up on you because after Halloween, it’s all down-hill.

Christmas

More Christmas cards because if ya haven’t thought about them already…well, you’re gonna get behind the curve ball.  I’ve already began designing them because I got a part-time gig at Travis AFB Arts & Crafts center.  I’ll be teaching card-making each Thursday and it’s going to be very exciting!!!  If you live near by and have base access, I urge you to sign up.

Did you know that there’s a secret between a good and great card-maker?  Here’s the secret: Participate in card challenges!  Yup, that simple.  I know there’ll always be someone better than me, but I think I’ve gotten pretty good now compared to what I used to make (LoL).  So go on with your bad ninja card-making skills and join us this week at Pals Paper Arts.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Stamped Tree Stand Out.  To give my tree an illusion of it standing out amongst the forest of trees I stamped the background trees in Smoky Slate Ink on a piece of Whisper White card-stock, but stamped it off to remove some ink to give it a lighter look.  Then a lone piece with Garden Green ink and punched it with our brand new Perfect Pines Framelits Dies that will become available for purchase Sept. 1st.

Through a Window Pane

Love

When I initially thought about Christmas in July I began to think about what to start stock piling as gifts (LOL).  I do have four items in mind of what I’ll be buying and the first one is a tree.

Not a real tree, a Christmas Tree Scentsy Warmer and I’m going to give them early…before Thanksgiving.  This way they can enjoy it during December (LoL).  Don’t worry, my family doesn’t visit my blog.

Christmas

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Window Frame.  There are many window frames like this one, but this one is mine and tomorrow I’ll have a quick little video that shows you how I made it.
  • Stamping the Background.   To make sure enough of the outside scene

July On-Line Orders.  Receive a sample (one of each design) of the 2015-2017 In Color Envelope Paper.  Use it to make envelopes or on a card or scrapbook background.  Simply place an order via my on-line store and use Host Code:  9YXKNX3R.

Star Bright Christmas

Challenge 5

It’s another gorgeous Christmas card and it’s onlyJuly…woot woot!  You know you want to get started and I’m here to give you a little something to think about.  These stars are so easy and you can cut out a bunch and then use your Score Board to create the star in 3-D.  See how to make it in the video below.

Christmas

My Star Bright card today is for the Stamp Ink Paper Card Challenge #5 and I’m tellin’ ya, this card has officially started my Christmas in July beginning last week.  LoL…I posted a Christmas card last week and it’s funny now because I just learned to make this star and I’m in love.  You can guess what I’ll be making my local family and friends.  The one’s I mail will be different, but I’ll save that one for later.

Christmas

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Hiding Place.  Just in case you were wondering how I adhered the star to the card stock, I stacked five Stampin’ Dimensionals in the middle of the star and played it in the center of the real red card stock.  I used a retired embellishment and placed it on top so that the dimensional can’t be seen.  Pretty nifty right!? LoL
  • How To Make The Star.  You know me, I don’t like to re-create the wheel, so I did all the research for you and found an easy to follow Youtube video that shows you how to make the cool 3-D star.  You can see it here

July On-Line Orders.  Receive a sample (one of each design) of the 2015-2017 In Color Envelope Paper.  Use it to make envelopes or on a card or scrapbook background.  Simply place an order via my on-line store and use Host Code:  9YXKNX3R.

Awesome Offer…Paper Share.  Here’s the deal I mentioned yesterday.  Try a little bit of everything with a Designer Series Paper Share.  Get all the DSP papers cut 6″ x 6″ and experience it all.  Find out which is your favorite without breaking your bank account.  Save yourself over $100+ and get yourself a sampler pack for only $25 with FREE shipping.  Get it here.

I’m So Sorry/Sad You Missed It.  What am I talking about?  The most awesome membership offer with free stamps.  Yes, you missed it, but hey you’ll be happy to know that you can still  join and receive future awesome specials with a membership.  Click here to read the details.

OSAT Blog Hop – Christmas in July

OSAT Hop Button

346.2 Christmas in July

Did you know Christmas is only six months away!?  I’m silently screaming so loud my head is spinning…”I’m not even readyyy!”  But you can start getting ready with the One Stamp at a Time’s Blog Hop.  Ready, Set, Go!

Christmas in July

To make this extremely clean & simple card I used the White Christmas stamp set and used Real Red, Crumb Cake, and Tip Top Taupe ink.  The photo doesn’t show it well, but I used the Stella Glitter Pen to give it a shiny snow sparkle look.

Christmas in July Purse

These sweet little purses are the hit of the town and I’m definitely making these for all the little girls in my life.  To make the handles, without poking holes into the paper, I braided three 10″ pieces and simply used our new Tear & Tape adhesive and it passed my test!  It held together just perfect!

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Braided Ribbon.  To make the handles on the purse I cut three 10 inch pieces of Wild Wasabi Seam Binding ribbon.  It helps to have the handles a little thicker so they stand up to the weight of whatever you put inside.
  • Cleaning Your Photopolymer.  Don’t you hate it when you clean your photopolymer with baby wipes or the Stampin’ Scrub just have a dark ugly pink tint left behind!?  Through research and another crafty friend (Nicole Picador) I found the BEST way to clean my photopolymer sets that removes at least 80% of the pink tint left behind by other cleaners.  See it here.

Nutty Or Nice Stache

Christmas

I seriously hope the stache framelit is carried over in next year’s annual catalog. I love it so much that if it is retired, I am NOT going to sell it on my Retired Sales page on Facebook. However, last years Occasions product will be posted on January 6th. Keep an eye out for it.

I’m emotionally attached to the stache. I have never known my dad without his mustache and it reminds me so much of him. So if you want it, I highly suggest you get it now. If it’s not retired next year than you have nothing to lose. LOL

MAGGIE MADE THOUGHTS: Simple Suggestions I Use

  • Cards don’t all have to be fancy dance to be cute. Just add a black border to any stamped image and boom… instant classy look.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

I have put an Occasions Catalog and Sale-a-bration brochure in the mail to all my current customers. Hope the new stamp sets give you some inspiration.

Christmas

If you’re one of the lucky one’s you are off from work today and if you’re anything like me, you prefer on-line shopping. Although I’m one of the most darling social butterflies you will ever meet, I suffer from a tad bit of anxiety when I can’t plan an exit. It must come with all my Rambo type military training. C’mon did you believe me? I’m in the Air Force remember? LOL

Don’t ya think this card is just so cute & adorable at the same time? I do even if you may not. LOL… As I let the paper stare at me, I got a great idea! Cut out Santa with my Cameo… duh! Cameo now has this nifty cool feature that you can scan and cut images from printed paper. Yeah, isn’t it just cool! You’ll be seeing Santa doing yoga and all kinds of other fun stuff.

MAGGIE MADE THOUGHTS: My Simple Suggestions

  • Don’t be afraid to purchase designer series paper that scares you. Let it stare you down and in no time you will get some kind of bright idea the way I did. Just look at Santa, didn’t he make you giggle?
  • Ever heard of Less is More? I never understood it (maybe because English was my second language), and it became clear to me what it meant as the card came together.
  • Go on with your bad self and let color clash a little. In the end one will win and compliment the other. Who ever thought gray went with green? Did you?

Free Time: Rare and Precious!

Two years ago Karen Salmansohn wrote that we should probably rename “free time” as “priceless time” because, sure, yes, it is free — but more so, it is rare and precious!

I’m here to tell you that at tonight’s craft class I saved my guests time that they’ll get back in the future. I know I know, you’ve already asked me twice, “how can that be!?”

Here’s how…

Kits: Do It Yourself Miracles

No, these are NOT two separate 3-D box star ornaments (watch the video below and you will see what I did). At least that’s what I’m going to use them for. This year my goal was to give my friends ornaments as gifts for their trees, something that will remind them of our friendship.

Since I’m crazy for paper crafts, this Many Merry Star kit is my go to kit. Great thing about it? I only need ONE! Well, unless you have 25 friends whom you want to gift one to.

I’ve gone one step ahead of you… click HERE to see more ways to use the kit.
