Get Well Sooner with Freshly Made Sketches #32

Gosh, I feel ashamed, I haven’t made a get well card in so long that I can’t even remember when I made one.  I suppose that’s a good thing right… no one has been ill enough to get one… =)  I also figured that since our new catalog will be coming out soon, and the retired list has posted, I want to make as many cards with my remaining retiring supplies.  You can get a great deal on the retiring stuff now while supplies last too!

I also took adavantage of this time to create this card with the Freshly Made Sketches #32 card challenge layout.  I couldn’t believe that I had card block when I saw the layout… LoL.  But here it is for you to enjoy and replicate.

Mr. Lion Baby Shower Card & New Kit Promotion

My friend Janae asked me if she could buy a baby card from Maggie Made Cards and I told her that I typically do not sell the cards I post to the blog.  But instead, I had a bright idea.  Janae is a professional photographer Nikon Girl Photography (Facebook) and web-designer, so I figured… hmmm… maybe we can make a trade.  She gave me full reign over design and I have been eager to make this onesie card I have seen repeatedly.  I have to admit… I LOVE IT!

This particular onesie is not my original creation.  I found it on Deesigns by NinaDee and I simply created the lion face.  Feel free to use her instructions to cut out the card and use mine to make the Lion face.

To Make Lion:  Use the following punches… 1 (one) Ornament, 1 (one) Scallop Circle, 1 (one) 5 Petal Flower, 2 each 1/2″ Circles.  After punching shapes, sponge the edges of the six items with Chocolate Chip ink.  Follow remaining steps below:

1) First print the FREE eyes from My Scrap Chick and cut out color choice
2) Using scissors, snip off the top of the ornament to smooth out the top of the head
3) Using scissors, cut out two petals out of the 5 Petal Flower punch
4) Glue each petal onto the back of the ornament shape (which becomes the face)
5) Glue the eyes
6) Glue the two 1/2″ circles towards bottom of face
7) Using black marker place random dots on inside of the round circles
8) Using pink marker draw nose slightly above the two joining circles
9) With thin black marker draw whiskers on each side of circles

Freshly Made Sketches #31

This card has two meanings for me.  First, I think of ALL my friends who are serving in the military and are deployed for months away from their families.  Everyday I pray for their safety and safe return home.  Second, although there are tons of card challenges out there… my thoughts are always with Freshly Made Sketches.

To make my card I turned it around and used my 2 1/2″ cirle punch through the paper and stamped my image on the Very Vanilla colored base paper.  The red ribbon adds a splash of color and brings the clean and simple card to life.  Three brads to the bottom right of the image add a cute sparkle too.

Stampin Up a Card Swap for Mother’s Day

The best thing I love about making a card is watching the recipient smile as they rip open the envelope.  Officially, English is my second language and believe me when I say that there are not enough words in the English language to tell you how EASY PEASY it is to make a handmade card.

You want to make your own card?  Card ingredients are below.  This card was made in under 15 minutes and was sent to a Stampin’ Up! card swap club I participate in once a month.  The swap is open to everyone and you can visit them on Facebook today… Click HERE.

Coco Chanel Inspired Birthday Card & Purse

"A girl should be two things: CLASSY and FABULOUS." ~ Coco Chanel

My BFF (Sindy) LOVESSSSSS Chanel purses!  She loves them sooooo much she owns seven (yes SEVEN) of them.  I made one mini Chanel inspired mini purse for her on her birthday and she is putting it on display in a plastic box.  I also love Chanel, but I can’t afford one, but I can afford this one… LoL.  So, what do you give someone who has everything?  A mini paper Chanel inspired Petite Purse.  =)  To make the C’s I punched the paper with the 3/8 cirlce punch from the Punch Pack and then punched around it using the 3/4 punch.  I cut the sides out with scissors and crossed them together.

Sindy’s favorite color is black and last year I began a tradition of making her black & white cards for her birthday.  She likes butterflies, but I love them and that is why I punched out three of them.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINDY!

MaggieMade Tip:  Do you cringe with the thought of throwing out a project that didn’t come out the way you envsioned?  I know I do!  Instead of using permanent tape right away, invest in repositional tape.  This way, if you don’t like it, there is no need to throw it out.  In the long run, it saves you money and keep you from throwing out perfectly good paper.

Order Your Purse Today:  Available this month only.  After April 30th, you won’t be able to buy the Petite Purse Bigz L Die until June 1st.  The possibilities are endless in docorating it any way you want.  Click HERE to see it now.  BIG SHOT or any other die-cutting machine is required.

Card Challenge: {Freshly Made} Sketches #30

CLICK HERE TO VISIT {FRESHLY MADE} SKETCHES

When I made my usual rounds to check in on one of my favorite card challenge blogs, Freshly Made Sketches, I knew immediately I had to use the Large Paper Doily.  I cut it in half to fit the challenge and used the sketch to Inspire me to Create the only thing I could Imagine.  I love bright bold colors and I felt the Rose Red card stock was meant to be married with the colors in the Twitter Pad Designer Series Paper.  I took it just one step further and embossed the doily, but the picture does not do it justice.  It gives it an ever so soft and subtle texture.  I know exactly who I will send this card to, but can’t mention it because this person checks my blog on a daily basis.  But you will know who you are when you see it in your mailbox.  =)

MaggieMade Tip:  When cutting doily’s or other intricate designs, such as this one… use a guillotine type paper cutter.  I thought I could use a paper slicer that has a pointy edge that slices paper and boy did I wish I had not destroyed the perfectly doily cutout.  Intricate lacy cuts need to be sliced straight down to achieve a perfectly clean cut.  Hope this advise helps you before it’s too late… =)

Summer Smooches Blog Candy:  Just a reminder that I will be announcing the winner on Mon., April 16th.  I will be using the Pick a Random number tool at http://www.random.org.  So, if you haven’t left a comment… there’s still time.  Go to Summer Smooches Petite Purse post and leave your comment.

‘Gracias’ Note & Pink Cherry Blossom Show Me How PDF

Its been fun taking leave from work aka vacation this week for Spring Break.  The rain put a little damper on things, but then when the UPS guy delivered my box of Stampin’ Up! goodies… lets just say it felt like Christmas.  =)  When I opened the box (or should I say “tore open” the box), I was pleasantly surprised to find the cutest little ‘Thank You’ note inside.  This act of kindness has persuaded me to buy the Tea Shoppe stamp set used to make the sweet card.  Funny thing was that the card I made the day before matches the little tea cup.  Thank you Mr. Green for brightening my day.  On to my box of goodies… I bought punches galore, the Tabletop Paper Cutter, and a pair of Paper Snips.  In the matter of time it took to open up my supplies, I made this 3 x 4 Gracias [Thank You] card  and my own Pink Cherry Blossom to boot.

MaggieMade Tip:  Don’t be afraid to think out side the box.  Get scratch paper and start cutting, punching, and snipping like a mad Ninja Scientist.  That’s exactly how I came up with cutting corners into my Fancy Flower.  Surf the net and don’t be afraid to alter someone else’s work.  After all, did Edison truly invent the light bulb?  No, he did not!  It was Humphry Davy in 1809.  Edison simply improved the invention!

Show Me How:  I have created this Pink Cherry Blossom PDF for your use.  Please feel re-cut it, re-work it, modify it, etc.  You can save it, print it, or pass it along.  All I ask is that you site the source when sharing it.  So, go ahead and be called Edison… =)

Retired Stamp Sets/Accessories:  The retiring stamp sets list will post on April 15 and accessories and Definitely Decorative lists will post on April 25.  I will definitely keep you posted because once these items are gone, you will not be able to buy them.  At least 55 items have made it to the Clearance Rack.

Summer Smooches Blog Candy:  I will be announching the winner on Mon., April 16th.  So, if you haven’t left a comment… there’s still time.  Go to Summer Smooches Petite Purse post and leave your comment now.
